Faith of the Flaming Soul

Deep within a mountain set in a large cave resides the Faith of the Flaming Soul. They keep to themselves only leaving their halls in order to travel around to either record current history or steal knowledge of the past. To them knowledge is the driving factor that caused the other species to fall out of grace with nature and the ancient magic.

So they committed their lives to preserving and save guarding the history of the world and the forbidden breakthroughs as well as experiments that caused the mortals downfall in one way or another. However the Faith does not restrict access to their halls of knowledge for everyone. If a worthy soul finds them and asks for access their plea might be heard.

Structure

Decision making

The faith, for the most part, is structured like a direct democracy. Whenever a decision needs to be made on the faiths further operations all it's currently available members come together to vote on it. This holds however does not count for decisions regarding who is granted access or not. Only the dragon holds the authority within the faith to decide on these matters.

Golemmancers

Due to the faiths rather direct approaches when it comes to obtaining knowledge, they have many enemies. In order to defend they masterfully sculpt Golems out of stone and clay, before weaving the ancient magic into their bodies.

Flameweavers

These individuals are highly skilled craftsmen and mages, they craft all the tools and weapons the other members need for their tasks. Their most outstanding creations are the <flame daggers> (PLACEHOLDER), including not only forging them but also weaving the dragons fire into the blade. Trapping it's magic within the gold to unleash at a later date. This requires a lot of time. A single Flameweaver might need several days to finish a single dagger.

Diplomats

They are responsible for leaving the caves and travel to surrounding nations and local cultures in search for dangerous knowledge. When they do cross paths with knowledge deemed dangerous they will attempt to either steal, destroy or buy it's sources and bring it back home to the library.

Librarians

Managing the books, scrolls and artefacts collected over hundreds of years is no easy task. Let alone dealing with decay and the aging pages. This is the job of the many librarians, which make up the largest body of the faith. A librarian is easily recognisable by the blindfold or mask they keep with them, to protect their mind from the influence of corrupting knowledge. Whenever handling a book they wear it.

Culture

The day to day life of a normal member is rather normal. As they tend to their daily shores within the caves, such as cooking, cleaning, harvesting mushrooms and local plants. These members do no have access to the vast library and collection of books but are nonetheless important to upkeep the faiths functionality and to enable the others to fulfil their tasks.

Although the community is old it is very small and secluded. Everyone knows each other by their name.
