The Demonic Incursion was the closest the world ever came to annihilation when the Blood War of the demons and devils spilled over into the Material Plane, resulting in divine intervention through the Great Heroes.

   In the year 5785 of the Age of Conquest, the barrier between worlds was torn asunder by the invasion of the demonic hordes of the Abyss due to the machinations of the demon lords Demogorgon, Graz'zt, and Ezereem. While other demon lords later participated these three are to blame for the beginning, performing a ritual that allowed the demons to circumvent the natural pathways between worlds to directly invade Lusamiel.  For five years they brought havoc across the world and turned most nations and peoples that existed into dust beneath their feet. However, by the end of five years the devils as well managed to break through and began fighting the demons. Using the reasoning that it was their eternal duty to battle the demons due to the Divine Treaty they proclaimed they were entitled to go wherever the demons were in order to fight them. They then began to enslave the mortals that remained in exchange for protection from the demonic hordes. And this was as it was for another five years, until the first of those that would be called the Great Heroes began their fight against the demons and devils.      While they technically began their individual heroics before this tenth year, it was not until the tenth year that a group of heroes from Hadran worked together to defeat the Archdevil Bel and push back the demonic line. On Danshea, the empire of Ansilvia was roused to action against the evils that plagued the world by a coalition created by similar heroes from that continent. This began the first official war to push back the Infernal and Demonic hordes, soon other began following suit and the war for mortal-kind's future began against those that would enslave or destroy them.  One by one, each continent was freed from the grips of the demons and devils until the many heroes and armies rallied together for one last stand against the demon lord that concocted this plan and kept the Gates of the Abyss open, Ezereem. Through the combined efforts of every single person left on Lusamiel that could still fight, as all others had been killed by the great calamity, as well as the gods themselves fighting the devils and demons on their home planes the heroes brought Ezereem to his knees.  Ezereem believed he was safe, as a demon lord he could not be truly killed unless on his home plane of the Abyss. However, his connection the the Abyss was cut off by The Source in an act of divine intervention that ended in Ezereem's true death. Finally, with peace restored and all mortal races at a mere 10% of what they once were, the Great Heroes began their work of rebuilding their world, creating the Reconstructed Calendar and helping found many of the countries that exist in present day.    The Demonic Incursion brought a sudden end to the Ages of Rising and the Age of Conquest, prompting the short-lived three centuries of the Age of Reconstruction to start off the new Ages of Rebirth. After the Age of Reconstruction came the Age of War were the world of Lusamiel presently exists in. As such, the fifteen years of the Demonic Incursion are treated as separate from any of the Ages of history and are often not counted in the years that have passes.
