Bahamut
The Platinum Dragon
"In night there is need for light to guide us, but in the day the light must find new purpose." - Saying attributed to BahamutBahamut, the Father of Dragons, has gone by many names across many incarnations. In every form however, he is a benevolent figure who wants to bring joy to his people and foster relations between all races. Though he is the god of dragons, he is beloved by just about every culture on Lusamiel. Bahamut's champions appear countless times in history to stop a coming conflict, and even Bahamut himself may intercede to vanquish evil, more so than most any of his fellow deities. As such, Bahamut is seen as the most popular god amongst even non-dragonkin, possibly simply because he is the most widely known or because dragons are so awe-inspiring that their god draws even further wonder and reverence. Bahamut is a kind being, but a fiercely personal one as well, he does not appear to large masses unless a great calamity is occurring, and he does not force his will onto other unless they willingly serve him. It is debatable that this is what caused the schism between dragons when his former wife, Tiamat, betrayed him and tried to conquer all other races.
Divine Domains
Bahamut is the god of all metallic dragons and as such he encompasses many Domains, from Life, War, Forge and primarily the Light domain. He is a god of protection and cleansing to non-dragons as well as the maintaining of order and just rulers.
Holy Books & Codes
Bahamut has no official written sources, instead he has many works attributed to his servants, primarily the Platinum Arcanum, a book of sayings and psalms believed to have been said by Bahamut himself. It is these writings that form the foundation of most religions surrounding Bahamut.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
Bahamut's primary symbol is that of the platinum dragon encircled around itself, but he also has a eagle, whale, and a lion as symbols to represent his mastery over land, sea, and sky. A symbol used by the common man is the snake with wings, also called the proto-dragon, to represent Bahamut as the father of dragons and to ward off evil dragons.
Holidays
The day of Moon's Growth involves the planets Bahuem and Onrah, the former of which is named for Bahamut. This day the planetary alignment of these two planets cause the greater moon to appear to swell in size, and many of the lesser moons coalesce to appear as a second greater moon.

Personal history
Bahamut is one of the oldest gods to be created and one of the most widely known at that. Though he never sought out acknowledgement beyond the dragons he helped create, he has been revered by many lesser races as well. The oldest known tale of Bahamut is the story of how he created the dragons alongside Tiamat, through the molding of metals and stones.
Bahamut smelted metals and crafted the metallic dragons, Tiamat took finer stones and constructed the chromatic dragons, and together they took fine jewels and made the gem dragons. Afterwards, they took their place as King and Queen of all Dragonkin. This would last an unknown span of time, until the war with the giants, where Tiamat and Bahamut differed on how the dragons should fight the war. Tiamat wanted to raze the giants' cities to the ground while Bahamut would not allow the death of innocents. The ensuing civil war would lead the chromatic dragons and metallic dragons to split and side with their respective creators, while the gem dragons would either abstain from the conflict or selectively choose who to follow.
In the end, Tiamat was banished from the Material Plane and Bahamut, in grief, withdrew to Mount Celestia for the remainder of his days. Never again would he rule the dragons from the mortal plane. Since then, Tiamat and Bahamut have not been in each other's presence and their creations have fought countless wars with one another. The dragon-giant war and the dragon civil war were just parts of the Divine Conflict that Bahamut inadvertently attributed to, which he has never forgiven himself for.
As such, he never acknowledges himself as a god, instead a simple king over dragons and dislikes when other worships him. Despite that, he still has dedicated clerics and paladins that serve him and an army of dragons at his command in Mount Celestia.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Bahamut was one of the first gods to act during the Demonic Incursion, since he could not take his wrath on the mortal plane without harming many mortals, he turned his eyes to the Abyss. His great crusade across the demonic realm is a moment of fear for all demons. Bahamut, admittedly, chose Abyss so he would be able to avoid confronting Tiamat. His actions inspired many other gods to begin doing war on every layer of the Abyss, and they are believed to have kept the vast majority of demons from flooding the Material Plane.
Failures & Embarrassments
Bahamut has never lived down how he allowed the dragonkin to split nor how his inattentiveness aided in the Divine Conflict that nearly destroyed reality as was known. Bahamut now lives in a self-inflicted exile in his castle on Mount Celestia, never leaving the plane unless he absolutely must.
Morality & Philosophy
The warrior-god king of the dragons follows a rather strict ideal of honor, loyalty, and chivalry. Often called the Knight Dragon by mortals who revere him, Bahamut serves as a paragon of gentility as well as ferocity towards evil. There are few who could reasonably challenge his benevolence, save those who are perhaps even more beneveolent than he.
