Dominos de Umbra

Dominos de Umbra were an adventuring party that operated from 1297 - 1317. Led by Black Prince Theocessus, the group served as Theocessus' first taste of leadership, and it was as the leader of the group that he would develop his combat skills. Dominos de Umbra would serve as a mercenary group for Dormaris Curtmantle during the Xeostralis War of Expansion. Despite typically working alone, Dominos de Umbra would have a key role in the Battle of Torse Hill, with Theocessus leading the Xeostralian forces despite being a foreigner. The victory at Torse Hill led to a Xeostralis victory in the war, and Dormaris appointed Dominos de Umbra to act as mercenary bodyguards for him. During the tenure of that contract, Dormaris used the group to assassinate political enemies, ultimately leading him to the throne of Xeostralis. The contract with Dormaris ended in 1317, as Theocessus headed back to Rosaven to be crowned Emperor. Due to their previous affiliation of the two rulers, Rosaven would align with Xeostralis for the duration of Theocessus' reign.   Theocessus' ascension to the throne would lead to the disbandment of Dominos de Umbra in 1317. However, its members would go on to form Manus Verum Rex, a secret, conspiratorial council designed to protect the interests and agenda of Theocessus II.

Disbandment

Upon Theocessus II's ascension to the throne, the group ceased operations as an adventuring party. However, the group would be repurposed as the political conspiracy known as "Manus Verum Rex".
