Session 25 - The Kapkan' Marshes

General Summary

The floating lights approach the party and Velko warns everyone to not follow them. At first they seem to do nothing with one moving to float over a pond in the abandoned village the party was camping in. From the pond it raises an undead Rover to fight the group. The lights and the undead injure the wolverine and Velko severely, leaving them with permanent injuries. After defeating them the party packs up a leaves quickly. Suspiciously, during the battle Vladimir uses some spells that do not sound like Gaalite prayers.   The group comes to a river and uses a combination of Vasilii's shapeshifting abilities and Vladimir's floating disk to transport the donkey across the river. The air is thick and muggy but they pass one day and night without incident. Vasilii is able to heal the wolverine's lingering wound but Velko requires more care and rest to recover and cannot get it while they are traveling. At night around the fire while Vasilii works on his weaving, Hrefna asks to learn more about the gods and goddesses of Nor' and exchanges knowledge about the Rover gods in exchange. Velko is negative about it, thinking that Vasilii trusting Mokosh is foolish as Mokosh has three faces and he can't know which of them is guiding him and what the intentions of the gods truly is.   While traveling during the day a strange sound is heard. Vadim sends the wolverine to investigate and she says she saw a thick wall of hedges. The party under Velko's direction goes in another direction to set up camp. At night, a strange creature is heard clambering through the woods. The group engages it in combat, with Hrefna repeatedly using magic to keep it from healing. This allows them to defeat the creature with Vasilii staking the creature through the heart with his staff. After wards Velko explains that normally these undead creatures can draw healing from the earth. The session ends with the party debating whether to investigate the thick hedge.
