Zharrus
Zharrus is a Tiefling but what class he has become is unknown. The chances are he became either a Rogue or a Ranger since he has been surviving on his own before he met Aerith. He is her brother. Aerith doesn’t know about this at this point in time. The same goes for Zharrus himself. What is known is that up until the day he got taken away by the Warforged he didn’t know that they are related.
When Pherissa made the heart-wrenching decision to put both of her children on a boat at Fhanor’s harbor, it was Zharrus who was taken by a mysterious woman. She brought him to the mainland and cared for him for several years. As a poor peasant and single mother, life was difficult. Not because Zharrus was a troublesome child, but because raising him drained what little money she had. She worked tirelessly, taking any job she could find, but the effort wore her down. Eventually, illness overtook her, and she realized she could no longer provide for him. With a heavy heart, she handed Zharrus over to a local orphanage, promising him that one day, when her life was back in order, she would return for him.
Zharrus, though young, was perceptive. He knew he didn’t belong in that orphanage and refused to accept that the other children there were his only family. In his youthful ignorance and determination, he eventually decided to leave. He believed the world outside had something more to offer him—answers, perhaps.
This journey had taught him some harsh truths about life. His view of the world was taught at the orphanage. At the town where the orphanage resided, all of the people knew you were an orphan because of the way you were dressed. Sometimes the people showed pity, offering them copper coins or small gifts. Out there, in the world, most people didn’t seem to think the same. He found out the hard way, by wandering aimlessly on his own, not getting one single copper coin. Zharrus quickly learned that asking nicely didn’t always work when it came to food. Knowing it was wrong, he sometimes stole food just to stay alive.
No one knows exactly where Zharrus wandered, but one thing is certain—he never strayed far from the ocean. It was a constant in his life, something he felt inexplicably tied to. He feared that if he left the ocean behind, he might never find it again. He also became fascinated with the hawks that flew back and forth across the water, wondering if they traveled to distant lands. Driven by curiosity and a desire for something more, Zharrus decided to cross the ocean himself. One day, he slipped aboard a ship bound for the island of Fhanor.
What became of Zharrus after he was taken by the Warforged remains a mystery. All Aerith knows is that he was taken to the mainland—but whether that’s true or not, no one can say for sure.
Recent Events and Updates
The Order of Adamant has searched for Zharrus for three weeks during their stay in Illumé. They had to be careful, this was the capital of the world after all. One wrong move and the beans could have been spilled. Aegaelion was tasked by Lady Aenysiel to aid them in their quest. He had given them some ideas as to where to find him; the underground or somewhere in the Dawn Ward. Once the group had found a clue for the underground, Leo, Mae, Jaina and Aerith headed there straight away. The clue had led them to an old and forgotten statue in Illumé's Sanctuary. They had to speak words into a mausoleum-like structure to gain entry, but they had no idea what to say. Sadly, the wrong words were uttered and the statue crumbled into nothingness. Frustrated and defeated, the group returned to House Celebren to share the news. That was when Aegaelion confirmed it might have had something to do with the underground indeed. He lightened the mood, by telling Aerith that he had something planned. A distraction of big proportion. During this, they could try and get into the Dawn Ward, their final hope for finding Zharrus. And so, they did. During Aegaelion's distraction, they entered the building Illian Quoronriel had frequently been visiting. After a few battles against Faerah and some Warforged, they entered a big chamber. On the opposite side of it were four researchers. One of them was holding a book and chanting in strange tongues. There were also four Tieflings bound to chairs. Aerith recognized one immediatly, it was Zharrus. Behind them was yet another Warforged and some kind of energy seemed to be flowing from the Tieflings into the soul gem. They ran towards him and Gotrick set the book of the chanting researcher on fire. The energy reversed back into the Tieflings causing one of them to transform into a powerful Devil. After a difficult fight with the Devil, Serosh had scooped Zharrus up onto his back and they narrowly escaped the building. Behind them, it crumbled and sank into the ground. Zharrus was brought to House Celebren and was laid into Aerith's bed. Both Mind and Seline had examined him. They confirmed he was stable but malnourished, feverish, and deeply exhausted. There was no telling when he’d wake, but rest and food would help. Mind examined him with magic—no curses, but something was wrong. His arcane balance was off, likely the result of the soul-binding ritual. They simply had to wait for Zharrus' recovery.Physical Description
