Niyimē

Niyimē was the Yuiwian House of Divination, where diviners called nīna—often thought controversial for their very existence—locked away to see, hear and know the events beyond their physical time and place.

Founded during the reign and under orders of Sō-Thadi Tēhlebao during the early days of his reign, it was eventually disbanded as part of the aftermath of Sētki a Nimē, a religious and bloody civil war among the two Nimē of Yuiwia.

Structure

Niyimē held a unique reputation among the people of Wīzoha Empire, as a religious House of myth rather than truth. The diviners, called nīna, remained in the confines of their own space from the moment they were chosen, with a singular keeper or supervisor as their only way to communicate with the outside. Beyond that, the exact composition of their organization remained veiled in mystery.

The secretive arrangement caused some uproar in those who knew of Niyimē's existence. Nimē a Sō, within which the House of Divination existed, made a point of criticizing the secrecy and dishonesty of its sister, Nimē a Nui, all the while engaging in that very same underhandedness they claimed to be above of.

The argument was made that revealing visions and predictions of the nīnas could leave the then fledgling empire without much needed advantages against their many enemies. And although Wīzoha Empire grew strong over the following generations, the reason given for Niyimē's secretive existence never faded, and the House of Divination remained an obscure myth to most, kept hidden away from the rest of the world.

History

Niyimē was born during the reign of the third Sō-Thadi Tēhlebao of the Wīzoha Empire, who intended to use the skill of divination to unite Nīwulā Valley—the one achievement he decided would make him more admired and respected than the nation's founder and his grandfather Soyaewa himself.

Tēhlebao and his supporters encountered a lot of opposition in their attempts of first establish Niyimē as a Yuiwian House within the political confines of Nimē a Sō. Despite the memory of Soyaewa, one of the greatest of dreamwalkers and seers known to the people of Nīwulā Valley, remaining strong in collective memory, the ability itself held a different reputation.

Those who claimed to be able to wander dreams and witness events of the past and future were considered something of a relic from the time before Soyaewa's lifted the valley from primal shadows. Soyaewa, the founder of Wīzoha Empire and Yuiwian faith, had spoken in favor of moving on from past superstitions instead of dwelling in them and stagnating.

Despite protests from friend and foe alike, Tēhlebao succeeded in the gathering of diviners and the establishment of Niyimē within the confines of Na Yuo Ni-Aebomē in Mēhayui, capital of Wīzoha Empire.
