Tjaahennä

~ 4.1M   Tjaahennä is a polytheistic organized religion, found in the south of Ciostro. It evolved from Sjeaalle, a folk religion present in the region, but many of the tenets are different, as well as the gods they worship. Senne is the only diety that there are no traces of in Sjeaalle. Oju, Uvii and Tjøbbå has disappeared from the pantheon, while the importance of Vinemm has increased significantly.
  • Nkkøsii, Goddess of Earth and Abundance
  • Sejø, God of Intoxicants
  • Sjiivu, Goddess of Thieves and Pity
Tjaahennä is the state religion in Æhuuttiizahz, Sjæddiilaandi and Raydætahz. Unlike in Sjeaalle, where the religion's focus was repentence, the focus in Tjaahennä is cleansing from sin. In Sjeaalle, the belief was that you could never be completely free from sin, and thus had to repent. In Tjaahennä, however, cleansing rituals are a part of worship. The belief is that sin is a part of life, but that one needs to clean oneself of it to reach the afterlife. Tjaahennäan belief is that the afterlife can be reached by the greatest heroes while alive. Supernatural elements like witchcraft are considered evil, and is punishable by death. However, miracles granted by the gods are celebrated.   Clergy are both men and women. They maintain the temples, and are ceremonial leaders. Celebacy is required, so they have no families. Those intended for the clergy are chosen at birth.   There is an abundance of holy texts, some of them contradictory. A select few of the clergy are chosen to study the texts their whole life, and advice the king.   Coming of age: 17 (females), 18 (males). The coming-of-age-ritual involves a cleansing ritual.   The dead are burned to rid the bodies of sin.   Physical contact outside family is a major taboo.
