Summer Camp 2025
My first Summer Camp run!
Introduction
As Summer Camp will be the first public eyes on Lore Linea's articles, I'd like to introduce myself and the current state of the world. My name is Intricate, or Intri, for short. I've been writing for chat or forum based RPG's since childhood – 2006 to be precise (just now realizing that's almost 20 years... but we don't need to talk about that). But I've been writing and world building since I was little. Lore Linea is yet another, a fantasy world whose dominant species are wolves known as Lineans, created for an RPG I am building, and World Anvil will function as our Lorebook. I'm notorious for going deep into my world building amongst my writerly friends, so much so that they suggested I include the name Lore in our site name. I've lovingly adopted it because, frankly, they're absolutely right.
However, I started the Anvil for this world awhile back and it was a bit on the back burner while I worked on RPG mechanics, so many of her articles are out of date and/or exist only as stubs. This made Linea the perfect target for Summer Camp. As I started my first prompt article (Etherials), I wanted to take a "before" snapshot of my table of contents. I can't wait to see how much my world will change this month!

Nourishment
Think about ways the theme of Nourishment affects your world. Do people generally have what they need? What happens when they don’t?
Linea is nourished by its magic and the etherials, creatures who feed off the ether that makes up the building blocks of its leylines. The world is in a state of relative peace after an era of war and division and magic flows fairly consistently, bringing with it prosperity and resources for Lineans.
Download the pledge document and fill it out with your goal for Summer Camp!
If you found any outdated articles in your world, update the most important ones now! Do the same with your worldbuilding meta.
Lore Linea's current set of articles are almost entirely in draft mode, making it the prime candidate and my chosen target for Summer Camp. As I am building out the lore (har har) for a written forum RPG that I intend to launch later this year, our World Anvil is sorely behind. I hope Summer Camp will help me make a leap forward in development of our completed lorebook.
Roots
Look at the cultures and areas you’ll focus on for Summer Camp, and think about how their past shaped them.
I am most looking forward to this set of prompts as my world's history has been something I've been thinking the most heavily about lately, having started using the World Anvil's Timelines feature. In particular I'm looking forward to really delving into each of the three major eras of my world and updating the timelines accordingly. Our world map, history, and RPG mechanics are all heavily influenced by a cataclysmic event that occurred at the end of the first era.
Go to your world’s homepage and imagine you’re a new reader discovering the setting for the first time. What should you change to make the experience more engaging?
In general, I have yet to touch styling for this world and organization is still coming into place. Deciding on the stylistic direction would be a major improvement to the overall feel. However, I am prioritizing article content and stylization over the landing page, as I need to fill in the pages of the book before decorating its cover.
Find your earliest worldbuilding project. What mistakes did you make that you want to avoid? What good ideas from those early days can you integrate into your current project? Remember to take a moment to be proud of how far you've come!
I first started writing as soon as I knew how to write a basic story, but my first forum RPGs were built between 2008-2010 (of wolves and magic, though missing many of the high fantasy elements of this one). My love for storytelling and creating rich, immersive details has been a constant and is something I keep at the heart of my writing.
Metamorphosis
What transformations and adaptations have the people in your world gone through? What changes are going on right now… and who is trying to stop them?
Our RPG begins with foreign wolves arriving to the continent and disturbing the natural flow of the native packs who have been in their homes for centuries. While they are not ill-willed, their arrival has not been entirely well-received by some. Still others have not let go of the recent Unity War and stir discontent in the dark underbelly of the ocean to bring about its return.
Choose a new genre, style, or author, and take a look at their art! Write what you learned from them and what inspired you.
I looked at a lot of other campers world's while preparing this article, I particularly was looking for ways to better format my information on World Anvil.
Read a couple of articles from the community, give them a like (and why not a sticker!), and write about what inspired you.
I really enjoyed seeing all of the different community-based camps and challenges. I've chosen a few that spoke to me, if you'll look to your right. I have one additional challenge I'd like to meet below.
The Challenge: Spooky Shenanigans
Claim this badge when you submit one (or more) Summer Camp eligible article that also features information about:
- mysterious lights in the air, water, forest, etc., OR
- a cryptozoological mystery with glowing eyes or bioluminescence, OR
- unexplained lights in an abandoned place.
Tomorrow
Think about current events that will impact the future. Who is working to create a specific kind of future?
The newcomers to Linea have changed the social dynamics of the packs, so their stories remain to be written. While the world and its lore is largely my own, its characters and many of its inspirations have come together with my friends. The Kamarais and the Atalan packs for example are created by Llutra and Nika respectively, and we all work together to ensure our timelines and pack histories flow well and suit the world I've built. I wouldn't have Lore Linea without their valuable creative passion and efforts. Much of our lore and work is scattered across almost three years of Discord conversations, a few dozen google docs, and as many voice calls filled with laughter and fervent brainstorming. I wouldn't have it any other way, and I'm both thrilled and honored to finally begin putting it all down into our Lorebook. Cheers to Lore Linea!
Make sure everything’s ready—from your writing space to your writing schedule—before Summer Camp begins!
I plan to utilize Spirit City Lofi Sessions (a productivity game on Steam) to help me stay focused when I'm working on prompts, as well as to remember to take breaks.
Below are article stubs that have potential to be good targets for updating during Summer Camp. I've also included article stub stand-ins in this list if they aren't yet created, notated with an asterisk. If I already know the name of the future article, it is in parenthesis.

Who or what will help you achieve your goal? What will your sharing strategy be during Summer Camp?
I am in World Anvil's discord server's Summer Camp channel for support and sharing! Aside from my friends of course. The discord community has a multiplayer tracker (community-wide!) google sheet for marking your progress, which I'm joining in on for fun. For posterity's sake, I'm using Graylion's Summer Camp Stat Block at the top of this article.

I hit a snafu when earning this badge - I did not take my prep article out of draft mode before the deadline today (28th)! Thanks to the recommendations of a couple of folks in the Summer Camp channel of WA's Discord, they suggested I reach out to Ondo to see if I could submit my article for the badge. I hugely appreciate their understanding, they were kind enough to honor the badge since it's a more casual event. A learning experience for sure - set an alarm reminder in the calendar!

Community Badges
Before Summer Camp was announced, I could spend entire days working on lore (12+ hours!) As soon as it I saw the event, I was super stoked, just one more excuse to keep doing it. However, my lore building has been a bit chaotic and jumps around. I'm looking forward to prompts to direct my attention to specific areas of my world that could use more attention.
However feral I am for world building, I cannot stand behind "Diamond Or Die" that I've heard about when delving into the community, at least, not this year. I am currently recovering from a head injury that developed into post concussion syndrome. I will actually be starting treatment for my symptoms in the rehab program during Summer Camp (BIG win!). However, I was warned the various exercises and therapies may cause my symptoms to flare up initially, so it may slow me down in getting Diamond. But I'm going to see how far I can go while keeping one of Camp Chill's core philosophies in mind – prioritizing self care and rest when needed. No matter how many prompts I may or may not complete, I'm going to enjoy this event to the fullest of my current abilities!
To this end, I've become a Dewdrop, that is, a camper who strives for Diamond even if I don't necessarily make it there in the end. As with Camp Chill, the Dewy Diamonds emphasize self care.
With all of that in mind, I am claiming the Copper's Fortune Badge as someone who has a minimum goal of adding at least 8 items to my world building while relaxing and enjoying the event.
And finally, an extra challenge to add spooky lighting and flair to one of the prompts. If I complete this badge, I'll add it to the top with my final badges for this year's Summer Camp!
