Etherials
Beings of the deepest magic and oldest origin.
Known Biology
Etherials are unearthly, intangible creatures borne of the ether. They neither think nor feel, responding primarily to their environment's magical stimuli and the flow of the leylines. They flit just beyond the veil of the senses of wolves, seeping between the Linean and Etherial Planes.
Morphology
Etherials are amorphous, their translucent bodies transcend natural laws as they float and dart through the air. Though they can't be seen with the naked eye, the rare wolf who still retains ancient Etherian abilities can ascertain their strange, eerie forms. They most often have a core structure that makes up their body, typically round, snake-like, wavy, or tear-drop in appearance. Their tendril-like limbs wisp together, forming appendages that appear to behave similarly to wings, legs, or arms. However, scholars have noted that only more developed etherials are capable of utilizing them to interact directly with their environment on Linean plane.
They appear as if made of unnaturally bright light and impossibly dark shadows, at odds with the glowing aura that surrounds and trails behind them. They are of every color and nothing all at once, sometimes shifting and flickering as if a mirage of the imagination before disappearing from sight as they slip from our world into theirs.
Vocalizations
These unique creatures produce unnatural and queer sounds. When they gather, the noise they produce is cacophonous and deafening, not unknown to drive those who can hear it to madness if they cannot escape it. Clicks, whirs, chirps, and sonar-like cries emanate from their bodies as they move about. It is unknown if Etherials are capable of communicating with the complexity of speech to one another (or care to), if their haunting melodies, piercing screeches, and chilling, quiet sighs are simply their presence; nothing more than anatomical function beyond Linean understanding.
Ecology
Primarily subsisting beyond the veil of the main senses (sight, sound, touch, taste, smell) on the Etherial Plane, these strange beings are wholly connected to Linea, flourishing in its deeply powerful magic. They live and die by the leylines, both drawn to their power and born from it.
