The Hub
The Hub is the capital and largest settlement on Lorriman. The Hub is located in a depression, safe from the bitter cold and winds of the central Lorriman plains. Initially chosen as an optimal landing site, the Hub has grown to take up the entirety of the valley, covered in a vast habitat window. The settlement is only accessible from space or via maglev rails running between the planet's facilities. Under the dome, the city of The Hub has grown to match that of a modern one, with tall skyscrapers, skybridges, and integrated public transport. Many have taken to calling the mountains surrounding it the White Mesa.
The Hub was established in 2226 by various scientific bodies across Lordanian and Sol space. It serves as the seat of government for The Institute.
Demographics
The Hub is largely inhabited by native Lorrimanians, as the Institute's immigration policies are strictly controlled. The vast majority of the populace work in various fields on the planet, largely in some way related to research and development, or vital infrastructure and social needs. However in recent years, the number of people obtaining Lorriman citizenship has increased, and The Hub is set on expanding.
There is also a sizable population of robotic workers, typically designated for labour and repair work in conditions humans would find unfavorable, such as exterior repair. Not all robots are used in this fashion and some are used for research and administrative purposes.
