Azure Fog
A large creature sighted in the Sentient Forest. It was believed to be the source of the fog that coats the dead forest.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Azure Fog is confirmed to have a serpentine body. It also has feathers and thick fur, which allowed it to survive in the frigid areas of the Northern Sea and Sentient Forest.
These are evidenced by the tracks that had been found in expeditions in Sentient Forest, Aviarines discovered large feathers and serpentine-like tracks. It was then further confirmed when there was a sighting of it staring at the expedition team while hiding in the fog, only outlining its body shape, further proving its serpentine body type.
The Azure Fog is also claimed to possess a pair of wings, though evidence is yet to be found for this claim to be validated.

Ecology and Habitats
The Azure Fog exclusively resides in Sentient Forest. Despite it being in one locale, it is rather difficult to get a clear sighting of it. As the fog of the Sentient Forest is thick and it being covered in snow, the Azure Fog easily blends into it.
It is believed that the Azure Fog is a solitary species and prefers areas that are not heavily populated. The Sentient Forest is a perfect fit for this species as there is nothing that will compete with it for territory and food.
However, as the Sentient Forest is an ecological dead zone, its food sources are little to none. To be able to survive, it has to either crawl out into the edge of the forest, or go to other nearby areas to hunt for food. Thus, one of its food sources is located in the Northern Sea.
There were sightings of it hunting in the Northern Sea, through careful documentation, it is seen diving into the icy waters to catch its prey. Though, the Azure Fog's presence there is fleeting as after it catches its prey, it immediately leaves the area and retreating back to Sentient Forest. It rarely stays in the Northern Sea to eat, only doing so if it's injured. It is speculated that due to powerful fauna found in the Northern Sea, the Azure Fog will have to compete to keep its hunt. Thus, to entirely prevent that scenario, the Azure Fog retreats into the Sentient Forest as there are no other fauna that could compete it for its food.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The diet of the Azure Fog largely comprises of fauna residing in the Northern Sea. This includes the Longtooth Whale, the Arctic Squid, and even an occasional Abyssal Octopus. As the Sentient Forest has no food sources, the Azure Fog migrates to the Northern Sea to hunt.
It mostly hunts by diving into the Northern Sea's waters and presumably catching it with its mouth, applying enough force into its bite to effectively kill its prey or at least, subdue it. It presumably uses its long, serpentine body to swim through the waters. But that may not be a plausible and efficient way to hunt, thus, it likely uses its serpentine body to anchor itself on the land by wrapping it around a nearby ice formation while using its neck and head to hunt prey underwater.
After a successful hunt from the Northern Sea, it then retreats into Sentient Forest with its prey. Presumably to eat it without interference of other species of fauna in the Northern Sea.
Behaviour
The Azure Fog is believed to be a solitary species, considering that it prefers areas that is least populated. It also seems to avoid any confrontation with fauna that it encounters, preferring to keep its distance away rather than actively engage in combat.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
The Azure Fog may be an elusive species, but its tracks (feathers and clumps of its fur) has provided some possible uses to it. It can be used for creating clothes suitable for the northern regions of Lofalen and blankets. However, it is currently used for research purposes, thus, we held off making fabrics from its tracks.
MYTHOLOGY AND POPULAR CULTURE
Speculations about the Azure Fog's origin and behavior has given rise to stories and mythology that are local to Auror. One of the popular stories that were read to Aviarine children is the "The Blue Star in the Forest", which tells that the Azure Fog was an egg that originated from a mysterious blue meteorite that crashed into the nearby dead forest of Auror. It hatched and grew into the Azure Fog. When the Aviarines came to investigate it, the Azure Fog drove them away because it disturbed its slumber.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
It exclusively resides in Sentient Forest and cannot be seen anywhere in Lofalen.
Average Intelligence
It is believed to have some form of intelligence as it does not attack anything that comes by it, but rather drives them away through cunning tricks using the fog that blankets Sentient Forest.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The Azure Fog's specific abilities are widely unknown, however, it is easy to assume that it has higher sensory capabilities. Thus, a sharper sense of hearing, sight, and possibly smell. The Azure Fog is also capable of surviving in frigid areas as the feathers and thick fur on its body serve as insulation against the cold winds. Its fur is theorized to also double as a camouflaging mechanism in the fog.
The Azure Fog is speculated to be the source of the fog, as one sighting said that it creates icy fog from its mouth, but the validity of that claim is yet to be confirmed.
In recent sightings, the Azure Fog is known for its hunting capabilities for underwater hunts as it is seen diving into the Northern Sea's waters to catch food. When it surfaces from the water, it will always have prey in its mouth, without fail.
