Wakoku
Republic of Wakoku
Territories
Wakoku is based in the northern end of the Great Oceanic Arc, consisting of 9 major islands and a myriad of smaller lesser rocks and islets.
The major islands, from largest to smallest are:
Shinjuku Island
Kamata Island
Itabashi Island
Shibamata Island
Ryōgoku Island
Yotsuya Island
Nihonbashi Island
Waseda Island
Hongō Island
The Wa islands are generally temperate, with the southern-most Yotsuya and Nihonbashi being much warmer, with a more tropical climate.
The islands are located in three smaller groups:
Shinjuku, Ryōgoku and Waseda are located in the north and are where the capital and the majority of the population live.
Kamata, Itabashi, Shibamata and Hongō are located in the middle of the nation, and have traditionally been more autonomous due to the distance from the center of power on Shinjuku.
Yotsuya and Nihonbashi have only recently been assimilated into the nation, and are geographically closer to the Republic of Bayon rather than Wakoku.
Military
Wakoku possesses a small military force, that is intended for self-defense rather than invasion of other territories.
Wakoku's most recent war happened between 2516-2519, and was a border dispute between Wakoku and the Republic of Bayon regarding the ownership of Yotsuya and Nihonbashi.
Technological Level
Wakoku is fairly unmodern on the countryside, with electricity and phone reception being unreliable in most cases.
In the bigger cities, technology has rapidly improved in the last 5 decades. The Fuji Metropolitan Area is famed for the rapid modernization it has gone through, but a large portion of the population opposes the rapid changes. A common argument is that the distinct Wa culture that has emerged over millenia of separation from the mainland is being phased out by the modern era.
Religion
The people of Wakoku traditionally believe that everything has a spirit that can bring prosperity, but also destruction if it's not appeased.
The country is dotted by shrines of various sized, ranging from a small roadside structure to the giant Suisho Inari-taisha shrine complex. These enshrine the sprits for worship, the spirit in question can range from a sword to a deity to a mountain range.
Foreign Relations
Wakoku is a somewhat isolationist nation, both due to the country's isolated location and the internal unrest taking priority.
In the last few years, Wakoku has entered into an economical alliance with Longshan in order to guarantee that the nation has enough food for it's population.
On the other hand, Wakoku is on bad terms with the Republic of Bayon due to the territorial dispute regarding Yotsuya and Nihonbashi.
Agriculture & Industry
The Wa islands are very mountainous, and lack most natural resources. Therefore, most grown food is imported from Longshan or Gandhara, as Wakoku itself lacks the capability to grow enough food for itself.
