History

It's hard to pinpoint exactly when it came around as the abilities and techniques have been around considerably longer than the common name for it, just in less presice and refined ways. It was properly named by Glinlam The Mad, along with most other terms coined around it, some point after the Burning Of Souls and after Ei'tarnium had infected most the planet.
Prompted by the discovery of a connection between one's very being, their Soul, and the Energy they were Making, or rather Burning, to create what seemed like miraculous warps in reality. Since then several schools, countries and factions have discovered, make and learned many new and unique ways to use this 'SoulEnergy' and it's even spread beyond Lislowan Space into other Regions and Sectors of Space. Whilemany other species see it as crude and a savage use of the ability, it still took them from a medival pangea continent, to a space faring and feared planet at the edge of the Taltha Regions of space.

SoulEnergy and BurnPools

The Two most important factors of SoulBurning, The matter that is used, and it's storage.
SoulEnergy, known more sometimes as 'magic', is simply just Ei'tarnium of sorts. The difference being, usually the magical energy of creation is formless and takes on the affinity of it's user and SoulEnergy, due to the manipulations of the Talthorians, takes on affinities of its own, and latches on users it feels capable to adapt to.

BurningPools is where that everything is stored after a user Burns the Ei'tarnium Massu into SoulEnergy. It's not quite known what can give a person large or small pools, but there's great evidence that just like a person's natural affinity, ethnicity, place of birth, personality and many more variables play a part in size and refinement capabilities of the user.

How Is SoulBurning Used?

Technically, SoulBurning is a local, but vast and expansive way of manipulating Ei'tarnium by the user Burning the Ei'tarniurm in their BurnPool into SoulEnergy to be changed into other aspects and elements of reality. It has many techniques and abilities yet undiscovered by it's creators and users, the Lislanders, but at it's core it's a simple conversion of Ei'tarnium from once form to another, but the ways it can be formed, manipulated and used vary wildly on the user's personality, heritage, place of birth, and natural affinities. Each one of Lisows Ethnicities were further changed/evolved by mass use of SoulBurning for generations.
