The Phoenix Fountain

The Phoenix Fountain is a strange feature of a remote valley in the eastern reaches of the Korth Wall. For reasons thus far unclear, there is a massive fountain of pure elemental fire that launches hundreds of feet into the air from a massive lake of liquid elemental fire. The whole valley is filled with this fire, and there is no vegetation within a mile of the fountain; only bare rock and stone capable of withstanding the constant mist of tiny droplets of fire that rains down in the area. Visitors are well advised to ensure they have adequate protection from the flames, as unprotected flesh burns in a few minutes, and flammable objects ignite within seconds in the presence of this mist. The valley is incredibly difficult to reach, as the surrounding region is rugged and harsh high mountain terrian, and infested with all manner of monstrosities and aberrations. The most curious aspect of the Phoenix Fountain, however, is that, despite persistent reports of salamanders and other elementals "playing in the flames", elemental creatures cannot remain in this world in the area. Any attempt to conjure elemental creatures fails within roughly ten miles of the fountain, and any elemental creature simply refuses to approach within the same area. Even Genasi find the region disturbing and unpleasant; and their elemental heritage is completely suppressed within the same radius.
