Yoru Magami (ヨル マガミ Yo-ru Ma-ga-mi)
Yoru Magami was born on November 13th, 1991. His early years were marked by an odd fascination with crime dramas and murder cases an obsession his family never understood. While others played outside, Yoru studied the psychology of killers and detectives, drawn to the idea of understanding what others couldn’t. A bright but distant student at Nishimachi International School, he excelled academically but struggled to connect with anyone.
At twenty, Yoru abandoned the safe path set for him and chased his dream of becoming a private detective. The next five years were brutal. His confidence clashed with superiors, his arrogance ruined partnerships, and his record became one of failure. Fired from multiple agencies, Yoru still refused to quit, convinced talent alone would vindicate him. But by the end of that decade, his name was synonymous with embarrassment rather than brilliance.
Going solo only worsened his decline. His investigations unraveled, his clients vanished. He earned bruises instead of breakthroughs and mockery instead of respect. When a failed case brought him into conflict with the Yagami Detective Agency in Kamurocho, his humiliation reached its peak. After a public failure and one final confrontation, Yoru broke.
Offered a choice between joining the police or accepting a quiet position at a private security firm, he chose the latter. The agency, based in Okubo, provided structure, order without judgment. On his first day, he performed flawlessly, handling his assignment with skill and precision. Yet beneath the uniform, Yoru still saw himself as something greater, a detective in exile, a man too proud to admit that perhaps his real gift was not in uncovering truth, but in guarding it.
Post Retirement
Yoru’s time in the Hidora Clan began with purpose but ended in quiet disillusionment. The clan’s missions, cloaked in necessity, began to feel like corruption under a different name. One night, unable to hold his frustration any longer, Yoru confronted Lieutenant Orochi, accusing the clan of betraying the very idea of justice. Orochi’s response was sharp and unflinching reminding Yoru that blind righteousness only destroys, that justice without reason is just another sin. The words hit harder than any blow Yoru had ever taken. In the weeks that followed, he fell into silence. He stopped showing up, stopped eating, spent days sitting motionless in his dark apartment neither dead nor alive, just existing. When Chairman Kuragari finally visited, he didn’t lecture or pity him. Instead, he offered him a way out, a quiet position at a small detective agency in Tsukimino, far from Okubo’s noise. Yoru never said goodbye. He simply snapped his Hidora pin in half, left it on his desk, and disappeared into the night, returning to the only thing that ever gave his life meaning the pursuit of justice, this time on his own terms.Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Yoru stands at 5ft 11in (180 cm), with a lean but toned build that mirrors his unspoken confidence. His wardrobe, a tailored three-piece gray suit with a white shirt and dark gray vest and tie, reflects his polished and sharp demeanor. His brown hair, styled neatly, contrasts against his piercing greenish eyes, which seem to always be assessing, calculating, and never truly at ease. Yoru’s overall appearance screams someone who has spent too much time in the mirror, as his narcissism is evident in his every gesture and glance. He carries himself with an air of superiority, never hesitating to assert his presence, though his posture occasionally betrays his underlying insecurity. Yoru’s stubborn nature is reflected in the way he walks, with a deliberate, almost defiant step, as if he constantly needs to prove his worth to those around him. Despite the carefully curated look, there is an ever-present aura of arrogance that surrounds him, he believes in his greatness, even if the world doesn’t always agree.
Yoru’s lifestyle is also marked by a chain-smoking habit, often seen with a cigarette dangling from his lips, which he uses to assert a certain toughness. It is as much a part of his persona as his suit and his conceited attitude. He is quick to judge others, especially those he deems as "nerds," and harbors a deep disdain for the overly sensitive nature of modern society. Hypocritically, he can’t stand other narcissists, even though he embodies the very traits he criticizes.
