Wasaburou Ukina (ワサブロウ ウキナ Wa-sa-bur-ou U-ki-na)

Wasaburou Ukina grew up in Tokyo, living with his family in a small apartment above their Izakaya. Life was steady. He did well in school and always had a hot meal waiting at the end of the day. His dad, Niyuki Ukina, ran the bar with a quiet kind of warmth, while his mom, Karei Ukina, worked long hours somewhere else. He and his sister, Suika Ukina, were close in that typical sibling way bickering often, throwing scraps at each other when no one was looking. Their mom didn’t find it funny, and after enough scoldings, they stopped.   One school assignment changed a lot. Wasa had to write about his family, so he interviewed his dad and Suika first. Then, when his mom got home, he asked her the same questions. She wasn’t too happy about it just said she worked for a security company and didn’t offer much else. He didn’t think too hard about it. The next day on his way to school, a man in a green suit asked him about his family. Wasa, proud of his work, handed him the paper. The man laughed a little and gave it back.   That night, Karei didn’t come home. No explanation. No message. After that, men in suits started showing up outside the bar. His dad kept his head down. Wasa and Suika eventually moved out together once they finished school. She started helping out more with the bar while Wasa drifted between jobs, never really sticking with anything.   He’d always had a strong sense of right and wrong maybe too strong. He started getting in trouble for getting involved in other people’s fights. His record picked up a few assault charges from trying to play vigilante. When he finally tried to apply to actual security jobs, his criminal record got him turned away every time. He hated it working dead-end jobs and still barely scraping enough together to help with rent.   Then one week, Suika disappeared. She just didn’t come home. Wasa waited a few days, then tried to file a missing person’s report. It was the first time he ever walked into a police station on his own. But the process was slow, and it didn’t feel like anyone was really trying to help.   He couldn’t afford to keep the Izakaya running and hire someone to look for her. So he started looking himself. With nowhere else to turn, Wasa decided the local Security Company, known as the Hidora Security Company, might be the only way forward. They strangly didn’t care about a criminal record. They had eyes and ears in places the police didn’t. He didn’t join to be a vigilanty or a guard he joined because he was out of options, and he still had someone to find.   These days, Wasaburou takes whatever work gets him closer to answers. He acts before he thinks, always rushing in when he thinks someone’s in trouble. He doesn’t care about making money or gaining status he just wants to find his sister. Everything else comes second.
