Koibacks (コイセ Koi-se)

Founded in late March 2018, the Koibacks emerged from the merger of two distinct groups: the JDM racing enthusiasts of the Black Wings and the hardened bikers of the Koifangs now known as the Fanged Koi Faction within the Koibacks. This unusual alliance gave rise to a faction that quickly claimed Yokohama Port as its territory, blending a passion for speed with a reputation for youthful defiance. Initially focused on illegal racing and street culture, the Koibacks gradually expanded into more organized criminal activities under the influence of external powers, including smuggling operations.   Their strategic location at the port offered both opportunities for revenue and a measure of autonomy from traditional law enforcement. Early alliances and a shared thrill for adrenaline-fueled ventures allowed the Koibacks to solidify their presence and attract a loyal following.

History

Merger Origin

The Koibacks were born from the fusion of two subcultures: the JDM racing community and the Koifangs biker gang. This collaboration was initially driven by shared interests in vehicles, speed, and rebellion against societal norms. Ren Haruki, a former leader of the Koibacks’ precursor groups, became the figurehead guiding this emerging faction.  

Early Years

The faction drew members from local youth and thrill-seekers, emphasizing skills in driving, mechanics, and street-level operations. Early cohesion relied on shared adrenaline-driven pursuits, while the group gradually formed a reputation for efficiency in moving contraband and asserting dominance at Yokohama Port. Key early members included Seina Garaku, Nichi Kusur, Katashi Yamatsu, and Noburo Yoshimura, who would later join the Hidora Security Company.  

Present Day

By 2021, after the fall of their main patron, the Wada Corporation, the Koibacks reinstated Ren as a symbolic leader while day-to-day operations are managed by a chaotic group of senior members, often referred to collectively as the Koiheads. Present operations include smuggling a wide range of goods drugs, Rai Essence capsules, medical components, and selective human trafficking.   While not all members participate in all criminal activities, small specialized teams handle high-risk assignments. Internal tensions persist due to prior infiltrations by rival factions like the Hidora Clan, and loyalty among members is continuously tested.  

Organizational Structure

Overall Faction Hierarchy

The Koibacks operate under a loosely centralized hierarchy, with Ren Haruki as a figurehead leader. Real authority often resides with the Koiheads, who make strategic decisions collectively, balancing order and chaos.  

Internal Subgroups

Subgroups are typically organized around specialized functions: racing crews, smuggling teams, and port operations units. Status within the faction is based on skill, loyalty, and contributions to revenue-generating operations.  

Individual Roles

Leader (Ren Haruki): Symbolic head; mediates internal disputes and represents the faction externally. Koiheads: Senior decision-makers controlling resources, alliances, and operational directives. Operational Teams: Execute smuggling, racing, and port labor duties. New Members: Trainees or probationary members learning faction culture and operations.  

Rules

Members follow an unspoken code emphasizing skill, loyalty, and respect for the port-based hierarchy. Punishments for disobedience or betrayal are internal, often involving exclusion or reassignment to high-risk operations.  

Operations and Facilities

  Main Base of Operations The Koibacks are headquartered at Yokohama Port, occupying a 400-square-meter compound. Their base serves as both a garage for cars and bikes and an operational hub for coordinating smuggling and port labor activities.   Division of Space The facility is organized to separate vehicle maintenance, administrative coordination, and storage of contraband. A portion of the compound is dedicated to recreational racing and mechanical testing, reinforcing the faction’s cultural identity.   Specialized Facilities Secure storage areas are used for high-value goods, while certain members manage sensitive operations, including human trafficking or high-risk smuggling. Their extensive involvement in port labor grants them influence over up to 90% of operations, providing both cover and strategic leverage.  

Operational Notes

Despite heavy involvement in illicit activities, the Koibacks maintain a degree of plausible deniability by focusing public perception on racing and port work. Law enforcement is limited in oversight due to the faction’s embedded presence throughout the port, making full dependence on them difficult to eliminate.
