The Tracker is a Combat Mage who has seen the deep forests and returned with a duty. They Must spend their lives making sure predators and large creatures from the deep forests do not pose a threat to those of the bushlands and plains; even if by lethal force.
Often pairing themselves with ecologist and biologist field journeys, trackers are often reactive where hunters are proactive. As combat mages, they are subject to upholding the laws of Levis, even if that takes them away from their honorific.Qualifications
A Tracker is always a combat mage. There is no world in which one goes to the deep forest and returns without some magical training in their blood. This means that a tracker has trained at one of the academies of Levis - often the Academy of Natare. How or why they ended up in the deep forest is up to chance or will, but very few go of their own choice. And fewer return with proof.
Requirements
Proof of the journey is presented to the leader of the town or city the Tracker returns to. A missive is sent out to get two peers - mages, Hunters or Trackers will do; so that they may cosign on the issuing of this honorific.
Duties
A Tracker must always protect the people and creatures from any wild threat, should they be able to.
History
During the Second Demon War, the Trackers in the area were responsible for escorting the civilians of the area through the forests and away from the frontline. Their skills were used to disarm and discourage wild carnivores and territorial large beasts from attacking the hoarde of frightened foliad and trolls, towards Attum-Mess.
Notable Holders
Bragh-Ferrad: Forbidden Forest expert, long within the quiet years. Kept hounds of shadow from coming farther than rumours to The Last Stop, often bringing their severed heads to the stop to trade for a drink of mead. Notoriously critical of the Academy of Natare, he believed it was their influence that agitated the things that lurked in those deep forests.
