Oda Ren Kai

Not all combat mages from the Academy are Balak foliad. Oda-Ren was a ocean bound troll sent from Solaris deep during the early quiet years. With thick purple barnacle growths over her shoulders and upper arms, it was her willpower and intelligence over her raw dexterity that made her a formidable fighter.   It was Oda Ren who first came to the eye of the Solaris Royal Court, petitioning them to be allowed across to Natare with their permission. Oda-Ren was not first in her class, or even third, instead augmenting her skills of magic with trips to Brambleberry to learn how to grapple and wrestle from the creature-kin there.   At the age of 41, Oda Ren took to the seas with a small one man pod-boat, and boated up and down the coast, gathering information on the buccaneers and pirates of Oceanus - her official goal to clear the waters for trade routes coming out of Solaris, headed for the Oceanic coast. Her unofficial reason was the hunting and ending of the pirates that had killed her parents. In the waters of Oceanus, piracy was an accepted quirk of shipping goods, and indeed clauses were sewn into the trades of the sea - but someone had broken covenant and killed her parents and Oda Ren Kai took to the seas, out for blood.   Oda Ren was vengence, swift and thorough, slowly silencing the waters of the area, until those that remained retreated to one of the small islands on the top end of the archipelago. There they festered while Oda Ren stalked the calm seas, waiting for their patience to wane. While she never found all the crew of the pirates that killed her family, her name is bandied around modern day Oceanus as a warning tale to buccaneers to follow the codes - spoken and unspoken.
