Rustillan
Home of the Rustilians
Rustillan, or Rustilenlân, as it is known in Pallernic, is a region in the eastern reaches of the Empire of Pallernen inhabited by the stubborn and stoic Rustilians and the often ignored Klenti. The region was once an independent realm under the rule of the House of Ikkermál, but its brave defenders fell to the might of Prince Âldal Pentiwichen of Pallernen in 1209 AA. Despite its subjugation by the Hartilians centuries ago, the people of the region enjoy a fairly high degree of autonomy within the Kingdom of Rustilenlân, a title granted to Alerik Ikkermál, as a reward for his loyalty and aid during Âldal the Daybreak's quest to reunify the Empire following the Interregnum of Pallernen. The region also encompasses the Duchy of the Hârdilinen, which was once held by the seat of Ikkermál power.
The mountains, isles, and highlands of Rustillan are not only homes to the people that dwell there, but they're also venerated by the descendants of those who've left the land of their forefathers long ago, such as the Rustilians of the Kingdom of Enliten. The founders of that realm were forced to flee to avoid persecution from the Pallernian government, but their bonds and love for Rustillan remained, at least for most of them. Those whose connection to their ancestral homeland withered and who adopted new customs and values became the Enlito-Rustilian.
