Third Century Incursions
In the 3rd century NE, the world experienced the first major Undead incursions since the end of the Mage Wars. Since nations were accustomed to the need to cull Undead from the lands they controlled and people had become acclimatised to the necessity of burial practices that prevented the dead from rising, they were caught off guard by these large invasions by organised armies of Undead from the less civilised areas of the world. Scholars have since postulated that the tide of living dead that engulfed the planet was fuelled mainly by the casualties of the Mage Wars and the Great Rebellion.
The Conflict
Prelude
There was relatively little warning for most regions of the world due to their inward focus.
Historical Significance
Legacy
In order to prevent further incursions on this scale, the various nations of the world became much more aggressive in their efforts to cull and destroy wandering Undead. Regular expeditions were mounted into the wilder areas of the world, such as the great mountain ranges and deep forests, to reduce the Undead populations wherever they could be found.
