Kyakan Tower
Kyakan Tower is a clocktower located in Dovala. The tallest structure in the city, the clocktower is the namesake for the Clocktower Uprising and stands as a symbol of the city itself and Havenvern's resiliency.
In 876, during the period of immense growth Dovala experienced upon becoming the de facto capital of Havenvern, architect Oborin Lubomir was contracted to design a clocktower to be erected in the new city center. The result was a monument that towered above the surrounding buildings, its cregean-designed bells able to be heard deep within Moshkyan. The face of the clock itself was designed as a nod to the other eleven major settlements on Havenvern at the time, with each hour marked by a color associated with a settlement, Dovala's purple occupying the twelfth hour. Within the main face are two other dials that indicate the current day and month. Kyakan Tower quickly became a symbol of Dovala and its power, its image being adopted into the city's official seal.
In 1039, Dovala found itself at the center of a rebellion as forces from Vinato sought to bring Havenvern under stricter control. During the summer of violence, all the Havenvernian governors were apprehended except Dovren Loshkva, Dovala's governor, who avoided capture by taking up residence in Kyakan Tower. He used the clock's multiple dials to send signals to those leading the charge in the streets down below. As the summer wore on and Loshkva acknowledged the city would likely be leveled before Vinatian forces would be deterred, he was able to negotiate a deal that would prevent him from being arrested for treason in exchange for facilitating the transfer of power. Loshkva would announce the end of the rebellion from the balcony at the top of Kyakan Tower. Many on Havenvern saw Loshkva's address as a sign to regroup and develop a better plan to drive off Vintato's control. As such, the clocktower from which the address was given became a symbol of hope to those who wished for a free Havenvern.
