Linguistics is your ability to learn and recognize languages, to write and decipher script, and to create and detect written forgeries.

Recognize Language (Trained)

Attribute: Intelligence.

After spending a minute listening or reading a language you do not know, you can attempt a check to recognize it. You do not necessarily know the name of this language, but you are now able to recognize it should you encounter it again at a later time. Mortal languages have a DC of 20, while outsider languages have a DC of 30.

Action: 1 minute.

Learn Language (Trained)

Attribute: Intelligence.

To learn a new language, you need to spend a downtime day with someone knows that language. At the end of the day, you can make your check. On success, you learn 1% of the language. Every 10 that you best the DC gains you an additional 1%. Repeat until you reach 100%, at which point you learn to speak and write the language.

You must have at least Intelligence +1 to perform this action. You can learn a number of languages up to twice your Intelligence bonus.
