Parasect

The Parasect is a hybrid organism created by a lab on Cerberus, fusing a strange gray fungus ("the Cerberus Fungus") and a large crustacean species. Additional experimentation with an orange slime mold seems to cause the Parasect to grow to enormous proportions and display hostile behaviors  

Components

  Cerberus Fungus - A white-grey filamentous fungus that was discovered on Cerberus station. Appears to be growing out of the structure or components of the station. Also appears capable of infecting humans. This initially causes increase feelings of community. In later stages, begins causing bark-like growths and zombification . Can be counteracted by an antidote synthesized from the Orange Slime Mold.     Orange Slime Mold - An orange goo-like slime that was found in cracks in the wall of the Khosla laboratory on Cerberus. Corrosive. Capable of assuming humanoid form which attack those it perceive as hostile.   Quinn received a vision of the Orange Slime Mold and Cerberus Fungus in a grand battle.   The Khosla lab appear to be synthesizing an antidote to the Cerberus Fungus based on samples of the Slime Mold. Quinn and Bennesh are attempting to replicate this formula.     Crustacean Host - A red crab-like creature whose role in this is unclear. Khosla Lab's note identify the organism as symbiotic with the Cerberus Fungus. Grew greatly in size and aggression when exposed to the Orange Slime. The combined organism is called a Parasect.
