Dendritic Zombie
Advanced stages of infection by the Cerberus fungus causes humans to "dendritify" -- to turn into tree-like creatures. Fine motor controls deteriorate, as does higher brain functions.
Dendritic zombies will attack passing non-dendritic humans. Even fungus-infected humans and humans operating vehicles can be targeted. The cause for these attacks is unknown, but may be driven by territorial instincts or predatory behavior.
The diet and natural life cycle of dendritic zombies is unknown.
Benesh von Lawick speculates that an injection of the antidote may help reverse dendritification, but this hypothesis is as yet untested.
