Dire Bear
The Dire Bear is an evolutionary descendant of the North American Grizzly Bear. The intense solar radiation of The Fall has mutated the Dire Bear's DNA, and surviving strains have incorporated a rock-like carapace armor on its body to shield it from radiation and harm. Like many creatures of the Homeland, gigantism is prominent in the species, with the average size for an adult Dire Bear to be comparable to that of a small van.
Dire Bears can be extremely dangerous when provoked, and pose a moderate threat to humans populations if spotted near one.
