Volund Aerospace VA 600S

Volund Aerospace was one of the first organisations to invest heavily in drone tech and design. It grasped the fact that drones could not only be weapons of war but serve other useful purposes outside of conflict. Although the VA 600 series is predominantly a vehicle for stealth and espionage.

What the technicians did with this model, dubbed S for stealth, was they took the original frame and rebuilt it from stealth composites. At first though while the prototype had some degree of stealth capability it was decidedly lacking in its performance as a whole. So the techs went back to the drawing board.

The original 500 & 600 series were quad copter designs built to be durable and operate in a wide range of climates and conditions. The 600S was rebuilt to have an aerodynamic stealth composite frame, one that would be able to stand up to extremes of heat and cold. Also the techs realised that while they could improve on the frame they could also improve the optics.

To deliver a top notch camera system they partnered with NordSky Optics, a leading optics firm based out of Helsinki, Finland. NordSky came up with a model that was smaller than the original but of far better quality, with this fitted into the prototype frame the VA techs new that the improved design would be a winner. It certainly was.

Corporate Security were able to use the new prototype stealth drone to help EU authorities bust a munitions smuggling ring ferrying stolen arms from a Volund Vapenfabrik facility to terrorists in West Africa. The smugglers and their buyers never knew that they were being monitored until they were busted and the evidence presented in court.

When the news broke everyone wanted a piece of the action. Orders for the new 600S series drone came pouring in. Naturally Corporate Security had its hand's full vetting these orders to ensure that drones didn't fall into the 'wrong' hands. Currently two types of 600S are available on the market:

• 600S Nightwing; a single unit operated via a VR headset or mobile app
• 600S Manticore; can only be operated via a VR headset, it also comes with six microdrones that the operator can deploy for wider coverage. The Manticore is the latest model available.
