Holidays in Krasnygorod
While most view the city of Krasnygorod as a dour imposing place filled with people who have no idea how to have fun (a biased persepctive if there ever was one) the reality is different. Even more so when there has been a major influx of newcomers hailing from Africa, the Caribbean and Latin American countries.
And who can forget the King Eternal who has been a major fixture in Krasnygorod since the days when it was known as Dig Zero? Currently the Office of Mayor (who is also the General Secretary CPLAZ) has mandated the following dates as official holidays:
- Jan 1st: New Years Day, unlike the south which focuses on the 31st Dec as a major party time Krasnygorod rings in the New Year with a bang.
- Jan 8th: Birth of the King Eternal; if this date falls on a weekend it becomes a two or three day bacchanial with the King's music played throughout the city and on various radio networks
- Feb 23rd; Soviet American Military Forces day
- April 12th: Cosmonauts Day; celebrating the achievements of the early pre Interstellar era Cosmonauts as well as those of the current era
- May 1st: May Day, International Labor Day. In past yeas there was a major parade down the length of Borodin Boulevard to the Heroes of Labor park that practice has been discontinued in favour of a free inter county soccer match (usually against Dyson County or Wakabayashi County)
- May 9th; Victory Day, celebrating the end of the Great Patriotic War and the eventual elimination of the Nazi regime
- Jul 4th: Independece Day, celebrating the liberation of the US from imperialist British control
- Aug 16th: Ascension Day, the Day of the Eternal King's ascension from mortal existence into the realm of the Divine. This is a very sombre day of reflection and mourning
- Nov 7th; Revolutiion Day; commemorating the Bolshevik Revolution that lead to the formation of the Soviet Union.
