The Wardens are a loosely organized group within the
Korth'an Conclave that helps manage the defense of the area around the
Korth'an Forest. They consider it their duty to patrol for threats to the people of the Conclave, to warn against danger, and if necessary to fight in defense.
Membership and Duties
Centaurs and
Felidasi are the most common members of the Wardens, though many other species make up the group. It tends to draw in those with a strong sense of duty to their community as well as those who have a fair bit of wanderlust - particularly common among Felidasi - as the role allows them to move all over the Conclave and to see many parts of it.
The main focus of the Wardens is the
Korth'an Forest. The Wardens will warn off those wishing to cut down trees without permission, will help wandering individuals who got lost in the forst, and will alert other rangers to threats such as
Minotaur or
Ratling incursions from the
Horned Peaks. They are also frequently the first to encounter
Fae who have left their realm and will often provide a formalized escort where requested.
The Wardens will also keep watch over the grasslands between the western edge of the forest and the
Southern Wastes, as well as keeping an eye over the east coast for oddities. The constant magical discharges in the area of the
Boiling Deeps can sometimes send elementals or rough seas in the direction of the coast, and the Wardens will occasionally need to assist in evacuating shoreline communities (often with the assistance of the
Gleaming Fleet).
Warden Communication
Each Warden carries a small magical trinket called a Warding Stone. It is enchanted in a way that when it is broken by its carrier, it will emit a magical signal that can be felt by the carrier of any other stone within range and will give them a sense of "pull" towards where the stone was broken. This allows for Wardens to be drawn towards a threat or another Warden in need. The centaur Wardens in particular are keen to respond to these calls as they will then often be the ones carrying messages back to the Conclave when a larger response is needed.
