The Psalm of Blood and Ore

Before the First Age, there where two dragons one golden and the other black as the night sky. They were brothers who cared deeply for one another. Imperious, the eldest and the gold, was the master of Law and his shining light brought peace and order to all corners of the world. Dagon the youngest, was to enforce Law by punishing those who did not obey. For a time, there was peace. And while those in the light prospered Dagon grew jealous of his brother who was adored by the children of Vesper. While he was feared and hated. So, in secret, he set about sowing the seeds of doubt in the hearts of the Elves and the Crafters.    Dagon impressed upon the Crafters the need to dig deeper so that they could find favor with the Gods in place of the Elves who were only favored for their beauty. The Crafters Complied and carved out vast caverns beneath the surface, creating places for the dark things of the world to gather. Once this was discovered, the Crafters who listened were cursed to live a thousand lifetimes in mortal bodies. Thus this small contingent of Crafters became the first Dwarves, a punishment for their greed.    The Dwarves Curse of Flesh caused the Elves to become evermore prideful and boastful. They, thinking they were better sequestered away the world riches, took upon themselves all that looked and felt pleasurable, for surely the chosen children could do no wrong. They where allowed to live this way for thousands of years until the resources were spent and the Mother had nothing left to offer. A great dying occurred, many starved and others died in the First War. Some sought out Dagon, asking him to bless them with his powers of death and destruction. And he happily obliged.   Imperious discovered his brother's betrayal and with the help of the other gods, he forged The Altiin, The Dragon Lance. A weapon crafted to penetrate the impenetrable hide of Dagon. With it He was able to pin his younger brother in the depths he had helped create. Dagon, filled with wrath swore that he would defeat his brother and destroy all he had worked so hard to build. When he shouted the earth trembled, so strong was his anger. He struggled against the lance for a thousand years causing great calamities and earthquakes that have shaped the land into what it is today. All the while, he bled. So much so that a great black sea was formed beneath him, from which the first Dathte spawned.    When Dagon escaped he took up the lance and attempted to strike down Imperious.
