The High Races

Throughout First Age ruins in the Lands of Legend are found traces of the fabled High Races, the first people created by Eoa. While there is no contemporary evidence that any of the High Races ever existed, fragmentary documents and art suggest that the myth of the High Races likely has some basis in historical fact.

Summary

Banished to the world by his father, Eoa the Rainbow asked his mother for a gift. Raya presented him with a wand in the shape of a great crystal prism.   Eoa took the wand and bade his heart shine bright with hope and love. The white light that beamed forth struck the wand and refracted into the colors of the rainbow. From those colors, Eoa crafted the High Races. To each he gave a name and purpose:
  • Those whose skin was scarlet-hued, Eoa named Rubrum. These people he made into his builders and crafters.
  • The orange-skinned folk he named Oranssi, and Eoa bade them take up weapons and armor to guard his people.
  • Those with yellow skin Eoa called Yavune. These people he made the singers and dancers, entertainers and teachers, and called them to record and spread the songs and tales of the people.
  • The green-skinned people Eoa named the Giridi, and to them he gave the land to raise the crops and livestock, that the people would be fed.
  • Those whose skin was blue, he called Bazuul, and to them he gave over the administration of his people and the recording and enforcing of the laws of his people.
  • Finally, the people with purple skin Eoa branded the Voxa, and their purpose is a mystery.
The High Races were fabled to be the first citizens of the Chromatic Empire that fell at the end of the First Age. While it is said that the High Races fought in the Great War that preceded the Cataclysm, that terrible act of devastation is believed to have wiped out all of the High Races.
