Qualifications
It is usually hereditary, or you must have extremely unique powers. (See Christopher vi Dominica)
Requirements
You must usually be a human, or an Angelkin. You must also be extremely powerful, and not weak.
Appointment
Usually the previous God Emperor crowns them, or the Higher Power does.
In the Angelic Texts, Serafina was crowned God Empress.
Duties
A normal king/queen/emperor/empress but larger. Some god emperors must conquers.
Responsibilities
You must be at every royal meetings, lead the armies. Basically the normal king or emperor but better.
You must also create angels and other beings.
Benefits
You basically are a god. You have sweet weapons.

You get the God Emperor sword, a sword rumored to slay gods.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Only the Heaven Empress can remove you.
