Bluemarsh Islands
Bluemarsh Islands are located between Kreneah and Volen Continents. Islands are mostly jungles and swamps and there are only 3 cities on the islands. Islands got their independence after a long battle against Andolia . It has now been over a century of peace, but Bluemarsh is still not very fond of Andolia as too many people were taken slaves under the Andolian oppression for a few hundred years. Daalia is their biggest ally as they offered their support during wartime and helped Bluemarsh gain independence.
Trade and ways of life
Bluemarsh has a very little human population as most of the inhabitants are marsh people. Islands live from the swamps and ocean, They have a large fleet of fishing boats, but also hundreds of Frigates to defend the islands. A few millenia ago people settled onto Bluemarsh islands mainly from the area today known as the scorpion desert, as the vast area started to dry up and living conditions came harsher and harsher. People changed their livelyhood from herding and agriculture to fishing and hunting. As years went by they started adapting to the swamp areas surrounding the islands which were known for the blue fog covering most of the land mass and the sea in the area. They started blending in with the nature. Hunting in the swamps was difficult as game could easily get away from slow hunters and there were also predators hunting the newcomers to the islands. They started using bodypaints to blend into the swamp and it's shadows to hide themselves. They learned how to breath under water much longer than normal people to ambush their prey. They got immunization against the swamp fever mosquitos were spreading. And they started seeing in the dark. Further on they got used to warm and high temperatures.
Adapting to the environment started eventually effecting new born babies. Their skin changed towards green and blue. First generations started to have mild changes but after 7 generations Bluemarsh people started having the skin color we are all used today. Dark blue color with thin green stripes across their body became a norm for bluemarsh natives. Some started to have scales on their faces which made them stand out even more from the other nations.
Change also came with distrust from other continents. Bluemarsh people were seen fragile, odd looking people outside their islands. Andolia took Bluemarsh under its rule and slaved the whole bluemarsh population eventually.
After 700 years bluemarsh started to get more organized as a nation and they started a rebellion against Andolian slavers. Rebellion was long and bloody. Almost 3 million bluemarsh lost their lives during the long 143 years of rebellion which finally ended with Radoviana's support. Historian's are though pointing out Linaria's war against Andolia which weakened their navy fleet and cut all the support to andolian troops from the main land. Radoviana's navy helped to secure the islands and Andolian last 15000 troops were killed in the Jam'la valley where surrendered troops were massacred without remorse.
Today there are still millions of bluemarsh slaves across the three continents. Only Radoviana and Bluemarsh Islands have forbidden slavery against bluemarshians.
