Children of Ymir

The Children of Ymir are a group of Homesteaders who were founded out of the need to help homesteaders left in the lurch. Don't confuse them with Homestaid, who help fix up homesteads in dire situations. The Children are here to help people who can't even get that far. See, sometimes parents suck, or life does, or there simply aren't enough friendlies nearby to help set up a Homestead.   To explain that in a bit more detail, sometimes parents suck. And sure, we have Bonus Elders that help give out some advice and all that, but they're mostly there for mental support. The Children of Ymir are there for physical support, for those who do not have family members to rely on. Because if your dad's a tosser, but you got no idea where to start, what are you going to do? Flee to the First City and face a life you never wanted to have? Join another 'stead while you're utterly unprepared?   And honestly, sometimes parents are well-intended but ill-prepared, or they simply have health issues that get in the way. And setting up a Homestead needs extra hands, so more-isolated areas lack that kind of community support. Worse when, again, your dad's a tosser and has managed to alienate the entire community. No matter the reason, you end up wanting to make a living, but having no idea where to start.   Now Homestaid is there to help fix up a damaged stead, but the Children help people get ready to run a new one. So they jump in with the paperwork, arrange donations to help you get started, spread information documents to help educate you on everything you might have missed out on. How do you befriend wolves and ravens? What should you be wary of when entering the First City? What does self-sufficiency entail exactly, and what crops should you consider starting with? That and more, they all help with, so you can get the chance you deserve. Remember, we're all in this together.
