Camp Nightwatch
The following information has been partially censored due to insufficient clearance level. If you are in need of more detail, request either the Military Court or a General for additional information.
If you're looking for a formal detailed description of Camp Nightwatch, you will have to ask your superiors for a proper briefing. At your security clearance, you get an angry rant instead. And yes, this has been sanctioned by people higher ranked than you. I repeat, any and all personal tone in this document has been officially permitted under the jurisdiction of the Military Court.
Camp Nightwatch can only be described as a Charlie Foxtrot. Its status varies from SNAFU to FUBAR. Whenever it is successfully rebuilt, its inhabitants tend to imbibe, which is likely the only way for them to suppress the urge to scream about how they have lost their bloody minds. Any residents are immediately marked for careful observation, because actively participating in the project is basically two strikes when it comes to being considered of good judgement. Who else would live in a place that gets damaged or destroyed almost like clockwork.
More clever are the Homesteaders that sponsor the place from a distance and only go there to help rebuild. While some might deny it, they basically treat the place as a guinea pig, providing innovations to see how those will uphold in a disastrous area. And just like how war leads to technological improvements, Camp Nightwatch and its eternal struggles lead to better improvised gear.
You might ask, why do they keep rebuilding the place? Well, under the Homestead Act, each household can only make up to three land claims, covering a total of at maximum a single square kilometer. Since the owners of Camp Nightwatch claimed a massive area and stubbornly kept at it for a while, they now can no longer take back the claim without forfeiting the allotment they spent on it. And of course a claim must be at least somewhat controlled, or else it is forfeited. So due to their gambler's fallacy, they refuse to cut their losses and keep investing more time into this disastrous nightmare.
Good thing for them they get so much support, because as mentioned, the place serves as an excellent testing site. Additionally, it is the only proper outpost in The Twilight Zone. Given how it helps provide intel on the area, as well as the nearby Nightwood, it also receives aid from the Science Department. With all of that, honestly it almost feels as if the place is a big hustle that gets support. Though the higher-ups guarantee me that the place still runs at a loss despite all the sponsorship. On the record I will, of course, state that I believe their lies.Leadership
