Kanel Logratte (Kane-ole Low-grat)
Baron Kanel Logratte
Kanel Logratte was the chosen successor to Warren the Steward by Gretta Logratte. Kanel was widely disliked by the haseti for always licking Warren's boots. He was likely instructed to do so, as he was only a young child at the time of Warren's life.
He would later come to rule after the death of Narfi Whitefinger. His eventful leadership was marked by the alliance between the two largest families of the Isles, the formation of Snow-Rock Bailumism (named differently at the time), and a complete government reformation. These would pale in comparison to the war with the The Strand-Blood Cult and movement to Trinen and Drulluvatn (called Mot D'nir by the natives). Most of the war with the cult is carried by the legacy of Hamish Troutlung, a general that Kanel promoted and would subsequently have many issues with.
He stayed active in government into his old age, perhaps being given extra vigor when his people found new lands. He would even travel to Thiff at the age of 70 to view the execution of the Strand-Bloods.
In his old age, his daughter Ester was killed during a quiet but failed rebellion. To make matters worse, it was a careless miscommunication that resulted in the execution. Further, his grandchild and son-in-law were banished from Shellbay into Westlends, though with Hamish still living there was little that he could do to bring them back. He spent the last 10 years of his life in deep depression and alcoholism as a result of his daughter's death. Accounts from his peers say that the only thing that kept him going after the tragic event was the hatred for Hamish Troutlung and bleak hopes that his grandchild would be found and returned home. Unfortunately, things would be made worse when his son Viktor died a few years after Ester as a result of an accident. Fortunately, Viktor's children were well cared for. Many recommended that the two kids (Vyr and Kaster) should be raised by Kanel and trained in politics, but he was far too deep in his depression to teach any pupils at that point in time.
His legacy was grand, but would not match what he wanted, as Hamish would go on to block further exploration past Shellbay. After his death, his loving wife, Anise Helgaard, would look over the Isles.
