Heime, High Priest of Udundst (High-muh)

Heime was the first recorded high priest of Udundst. Under his rule, all the mountain tops were united in worship. Yunbad would climb from miles of mountains away to hear him translate the words which gods spoke to him, as well as hear his decrees of the natural or lawful world. Funnily, these gods never told him of the lion people that lived just across the way. However, the two civilizations would not meet within his lifetime.    Gods speaking to the High Priest was not uncommon, but Heime was known for bringing magic to his people. He did not go to Hawumad directly, but he did choose a group of 10 to venture out for him. With this life based magic, Heime was able to save his people from starvation. He was a hero and a prophet in everyone's eyes. Further, he was an example of minimalism and showed that sticking to your convictions would always be rewarded.

History

Many theorize that Maud murdered Heime. He had much to gain from it and nothing to lose, as Maud himself was pushing the limits of the Yunbad lifespan at the time of his ordination. Through his succession, he was able to live another 110 years or so.

One Disaster After Another

Heime had to deal with many tragedies throughout his life, but none greater than the Yunbad Cold Year. In this time before magic, food was scarce and motivation even more so. During this period, the 40 massive water reservoirs broke as well, causing all of the good drinking water to spill down the Eastern mountain sides.    One stone tablet, recovered from Udundst's wastes, depicts Heime having to select who gets to eat a frayed root. On the left, a young child. On the right, his close friend and successor, Maud. The piece is titled "Half-meal for a child."
