Harvey Piers Merriweather

The infamous, later famous, novel author and playwright known for his dramatizations of a horrific reality, Harvey Piers Merriweather chronicled his spine chilling experiences encountered throughout his life near obsessively. Though he went missing during his latest years, he was reported dead through testimony of a younger relative who took their own life not long after. The Vrellezi man was known most for his superstitious and paranoid nature. His peculiar habits quickly bore him the reputation of the old, suspicious madman in the city of Ollerton, where he'd settled down for his later years.   Harvey Piers was known to be ripe with misfortune, a fact that was often accompanied by a reportedly unpleseant demeanor. It was his unlucky nature that served as the crux for his writings. In his earlier life, he discovered a knack for rudimentary spellcasting which served his performative professions well. Unfortunately, his performances could never rake in enough coin to keep his head above the water in the sea of debt which plagued him with strife. Soon his troupe was forced to disband and he was left with little more than his own two feet to walk on. It was after his background as a Dramaturge that Merriweather began work on what later became his most well-known work among the upper crust of Aio, "What Lies Behind the Veil: Echoes of a Dark Age". Piers saw this novel as his magnum opus, even though it was his first tale, it would also be the last to see the light of day. It's said he left the original rendition of the novel in the possession of a younger relative in the hopes that it would bring his family the fortune he lacked in life.    Harvey Piers' works detailed some of the oldest accounts of creatures he took to dubbing "Vilebloods", a title that was later attributed to the monstrous aberrations that Vrellez faced during the Twilight War and later proceeded to roam the land freely throughout the Age of Shadow. It is unverifiable if the creatures in Merriweather's dramaticized mythos and the Vilebloods that later plagued the Vrellezi people are one and the same, though the same extends to the Synallum. Within Merriweather's fabricated mythos, The Synallum hold near deific power, able to bend the very fabric of reality to their whim, creatures that share a bed with the Great Old Ones of eld. Though horrors unimaginable were Piers' speciality, he's also attributed for giving name to the Quori, strange creatures that share their a mind with a mortal creature to form a race of people known as the Kalashtar.    Though he is attributed for a great deal of influence in death, in life Piers' life was led in a state of misery. Due to claiming truth behind his works, he was endlessly ridiculed amongst peers which often fed his reputation as a madman. It wasn't until late in the Twilight War, after his presumed death that he began to be perceived as a credible source. His work gave way to others far more insightful, used to combat Vilebloods over the following years. His works are often coveted, held in high regard for those in power.
