The Merriweathers often lived lives wrought with strife and misfortune, though sometimes through extraordinary circumstance, they seem fated for tragedy and sorrow. They are most notably recognized as the bloodline of Harvey Piers Merriweather, infamous, and later famous, novelist and playwright who, in granting wealth to his descendants, doomed them to live lives under his rather dark shadow.
