Personal history
Unloved and unwanted in his childhood by his mother, Qidus is living proof that even a hardened stone-hearted man like Iahanus Sodin can have a moment of kindness. Iahanus, disgusted by his sister's behavior, took pity on Qidus and adopted him into the family, despite his bastard heritage. He has seen to Qidus' education and has now assigned him to Lâinus as his cohort.
Over time, he became a very trusted companion to Lâinus, who eventually made him a leader in The Silent.
Mental Trauma
Qidus' rejection by his mother during his childhood has hurt him deeply. He despises her. Now that she has sobered, she has tried to reconcile, but it is too late; Qidus will have nothing to do with her.
Intellectual Characteristics
Qidus is unusually intelligent. He grasps concepts which others struggle with very easily.
