Ip'Lythi
It had been a long time since I’d returned to Beaumont, and some changes in the land were expected. As I sat reviewing my weeks notes however, what I did not expect was the group of beings that passed through the corner of my peripheral. There were twelve of them, walking in a close group, and had Kaida’s light not been shining brightly down on us, I’d have been convinced they were a bold caravan of drow. Three of them looked at me in passing - a male nodded respectfully but said nothing, a tuft of sky blue hair wisping in front of a vibrant gold eye. Their dark skin was mostly shades of darker grey, some a bit more blue than others. I assumed the lot of them to be a very enchanting breed of elf, and even though I’d never seen them before, they somehow seemed… familiar. — Artemis Cinderspire, ArchivistCreated by the Aspect of Night and Seasons, the Ip'Lythi are a rare variant of elf. Spoken of but seldom seen, if one does find the urge to hunt down one of the Sky Readers, libraries or fonts of natural magic are a good place to start.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Ip’Lythi tend to resemble the night sky that they came from. Skin can range from a deep charcoal black to a pale slate blue, though darker variations are more common than lighter ones, and some sort of cool undertone is almost always present. Hair is usually white, silver or other pastel shades. Eyes are gold, blue, or gray. Mixings of the colors are also common (blue flecked with gold for example)
Upon their bodies is also a unique pattern of ‘stardust’ - semi translucent speckles that can be easily overlooked, unless you know what you’re looking for. Some Ip’Lythi choose to further accentuate these markings by incorporating them into tattoos. At night, they faintly glow.
Due to dark skin tones and pale hair, Ip’Lythi are commonly mistaken for their Drow cousins.
Growth Rate & Stages
Although Ip'Lythi reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass wordly experience. As such, Ip'Lythi typically claim adulthood around the passing of 50 human years.
Behaviour
Adventuring is not usually at the top of an Ip’Lythi ‘to-do’ list, and is typically limited to running errands at the next closest town. When wanderlust occurs, or if certain individuals are given a task by their Brother, traveling is always done in groups, which they refer to as their ‘clutch.’ Depending on the task, clutches can vary in size from 3 to 30. The amount in the group usually is determined by how far they are to travel, or if they’ve been warned that danger may be present. A group of Ip’Lythi is rare - one alone is unheard of. If a single Ip’Lythi is spotted, it is guaranteed that the rest of their clutch is nearby.
If they leave on their own accord, it may be because a Caste needed further research on a topic, the stars foretold of a great discovery, or curiosities in their own magical prowess urged them to search for raw magic fonts. Ip’Lythi have hesitation when it comes to traveling too far from their homeland, feeling that the further they are from Nodelrün, the weaker their connection to Ip becomes.
Ip’Lythi have not been spotted further than 100 miles outside of the Moonlands
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The natural mana flowing through Nodelrun, as well as the rapid darkness that can fill the land, has impacted much of the Ip'Lythi physicality.
Their eyes are keen, able to quickly determine if the wiggle in their perepheral was simply dancing leaves, or a bigger threat coming towards their home.
All Ip'Lythi are gifted with very basic magical understanding and abilities, though not all choose to utelize it.

Major Organizations
When children are deemed old enough by their family, they are sent into a Caste to further their studies. There are five Castes, each specializing in an area of expertise, and each with its own Queen that oversees the teachings of the children. Despite the accepted feminine use of the word, a Queen is not exclusively female in this sense. Upon finishing their schooling, the student ‘Receives Their Robes’ - essentially graduating. These robes are referred to as Elytra - a translucent, iridescent piece of over clothing that can vary in style based on the graduates desire. The color is determined by their Caste. Claws are red, Eyes are green, Wings are white, Hands are blue and Minds are yellow.
Brother’s Claws, specializing in physical prowess.
Brother’s Eyes, for natural magics and observations.
Brother’s Wings, for magics gifted by Ip himself, or his chosen children.
Brother’s Hands, for those learning magic from tomes or refining that in their bloodline.
Brother’s Mind, for studies involving the tangible arcane
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Ip’Lythin is a harsher dialect of elvish. While they share an alphabet, the written language of Ip’Lythin has a bit less flow than traditional elven script and can appear to have an almost Dwarven undertone. When speaking, certain consonants are pronounced with what could be described as an insect-like ‘clicking’ to them
Culture and Cultural Heritage
The lands and life was created by Magra, and based on that, anyone could argue that they are a child of the Gods. The Ip’Lythi, however, were created by the Aspect Ip Himself, and thus have a deep personal connection with him, going so far as to refer to him as their Brother. With a population fewer than 400, it is a very close knit community. Ip’Lythi are naturally magical, and this spark of the arcane drives them to be curious about the world. However, this does conflict with their usual timid demeanor towards other races, relying mostly on their Brother for stories on current events, or what tales the stars may tell them that night.
Their innate connection to the night sky causes many to have a passion for astrology, reading the constellations and moon phases. These readings can tell them anything from simple weather forecasts to the secrets that their Brother only wants them to hear.
Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
The Ip’Lythi follow a lunar calendar, and have holidays or fables for specific moon phases.
• Full Moon: “Sentry” While one may assume that a full moon would be a very powerful time, Ip’Lythi take great caution during this time. A full moon means that Ip is on high alert and watching intently. This could be a sign of danger to come, and to also be on your best behavior (He’s watching you!)
• Waning: “Winking” If an Ip’Lythi says ‘brother is winking,’ it means the moon is growing closer to a new moon. This is a time where Ip ‘looks the other way’ and is a playful time for practical jokes and fun in preparation for Homecoming
• New Moon: ‘Homecoming” This is a celebration held every 28 days. Because Ip is not in the sky, it means he is on the surface. Homecoming welcomes Ip back to Nodelrün with song, dance, gifts, and so on.
• Waxing: “Patrol” The moon is filling again, and Ip is returning to his place in the sky. This is the ‘business as usual’ phase.
History
The elusive Ip’Lythi are a relatively new race, first documented spotted on Kiqueo in the year 9622 PR, and since then have acquired many nicknames from other races. Sky Readers, Moon Elves, Mana Hounds, just to name a few. Some have taken the Ip’Lythi’s natural kinship with the stars to mean that they are fortune tellers of sorts, and while they usually keep to themselves, they are happy to entertain this idea… If they can be found, of course.
