Cestus

The Giver Cestus Morley (a.k.a. The Giver, The Poor One)

Cestus, also known as The Giver and most commonly recognized as The Giving Tree Co. is an Elder Aspect who is recognized by many as the most "relatable" Aspect due to Her very human upbringing. Cestus is very open with her origin, the death of Her late husband, Her daughter and their struggle to make ends meet until Her daughter grew independent and moved away. Her story moves millions and has been recognized as a crucial component to the overall success of food and housing availability in Beaumont. Her Vox Ultima and their corporation, The Giving Tree enlist tens of thousands of monthly volunteers who accept, sort and distribute funding, food, personal supplies and toiletries, building supplies, real estate, childcare products and other donations to millions around the world. Perhaps most well-known for distribution are Firstgivings, Secondsgivings, Thirdsgivings, Fourthgivings and Lastgivings which occur sequentially during every Idolstag of Frostbreak. During these events volunteer numbers reach into the hundreds of thousands or millions requiring some of Beaumont's most complicated logistical planning to be successful. Cestus Herself can often be spotted in remote villages, often on Kiqueo, offering her own labor, food and love to those most in need.   Much like the Aspects that quietly shape Beaumont’s destiny, Cestus' Giving Tree stands as one of the world’s most trusted humanitarian corporations operating relief efforts, medical sanctuaries and wish-granting initiatives across Pægor and Kiqueo without cost to those in need. Recognized instantly by its wicker picnic basket sigil, the Giving Tree is often the first presence at sites of catastrophe deploying man and mana-powered clinics, world-renowned medics and neutral aid zones that are honored even amidst open conflict. Its reach extends beyond physical charity overseeing blood, mana, non-perishables and financial donations, carefully recorded within vast ledgers to ensure aid is distributed where it will preserve the greatest measure of life and stability. During major disasters the Vox Ultima are said to appear in dozens of cities at once, a feat that has fueled persistent rumors of temporal duplication. Outside of such events, its emblem is universally understood as a promise of sanctuary; many nations enforce strict protections around The Giving Tree facilities with severe penalties for interference. Though officially neutral and humanitarian in purpose, the corporation’s unparalleled resources and meticulous accounting of generosity have made it an indispensable pillar of the modern world where compassion is freely given. Remarkably, nearly every corporation and business offer donations to Cestus not only for the notoriety of being named a donor but for the prosperity of Beaumont as a whole.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Cestus appears human in origin though this has never been confirmed as Her home village has never been identified in Beaumont. Her attire is often considered dated or old-fashioned and wears thin with centuries of repeated wear, though it is cared for well. Her body and figure resemble that of an elderly mid-sixties human woman including bruises and scars, wrinkles and callouses from daily work. Despite Her small physique and seemingly frail bone structure, Cestus has been documented during Her descents completing exhausting farm-work, carrying heavy stockpots and assisting in residential construction projects without hindrance or exhaustion.

Facial Features

Cestus' eyes are said to always reflect those of their observer's mother's. While their color never changes from their sapphire blue, their expression, trust and outward love have been noticed by billions.

Apparel & Accessories

Cestus is frequently barefoot and always carries a wicker picnic basket that is always full of fresh food, water and in recent centuries hot meals, pastries and sweet treats for children. No explanation has been offered for the change from an otherwise simple pantry.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Cestus was a young widow, losing her husband when he was 20 to war. Left with only her infant daughter and with no home or surviving family Cestus devoted every moment of her life to her newborn child, working for anybody who would pay. This slowly earned a reputation Cestus within her town as The Giver. Any earnings she had remaining after caring for her daughter and herself was given back to whomever needed it that day. As Her daughter grew and became independent, Cestus remained in village and continued to care for everyone in her town, still working for anyone who needed help and volunteering her earnings to the less fortunate, particularly favoring mothers. It was Cestus’ generosity and care for everyone around her granted her a magical boon, an aura that emanated good favor and positivity that would later be recognized as Her ascension to Aspecthood.

Intellectual Characteristics

Cestus is know for being consolingly honest, willing to point out lies and mistakes with an understanding and offers an olive-branch of trust instead of dwelling on past mistakes. She is renowned for offering second chances not only to mothers but to all who stumbled and struggle to pick themselves back up to levels of comfort and secure living. She is very open about every topic brought before her, favoring openness and honesty above all other traits.   During Her times of descending, Cestus speaks fluently in any language spoken to her and has also been seen communicating via sign language, simple gestures and purely by facial expression and empathetic emotion. She is always depicted as calm, caring and understanding but has been known to express worry and disappointment when the situation calls for it.

Morality & Philosophy

Cestus does not promote wealth or financial prosperity but instead focuses on comfort, stability and familial well-being. Her Vox Ultima are numerous, more than any other Aspect and they are further assisted by tens of thousands of global volunteers who fully leverage the power of giving. While numbers fluctuate based on a variety of factors, The Giving Tree donations average 30,000,000 annual meals, 1,500,000 scholarships, 215,000 homes built or restored and humanitarian aid to every country in the confederacy including the secluded Solusi Simoli.   100% of financial donations given to The Giving Tree are directed to those in need with many of Beaumont's corporations offering to match without limit. In addition, millions of tons of fresh produce are donated around the world, culinary lessons and supplies and excess livestock also see frequent donation.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Cestus believes above all that all beings should have their basic necessities met and has worked her entire life to ensure no Beau goes hungry or without warmth and a roof over their head. During an interview she was quoted saying:
I never had a roof over my room growing up and had to make carrots and cabbage last a week. My parents worked themselves to death to make sure we had family time and a farm that would feed us and that was all we needed. I understand now the challenges they endured with grace and have made it my life's work to prove that real wealth comes from the unconditional love of a child, from the knowing embrace of a sick parent and the memories that money could never buy.

Her philosophy has the world's largest following and is cited for being a primary reason for Beaumont's success in defeating wealth inequality, offering public services for free and the general prosperity of nearly every corner of the world. While Cestus is most popular among single parents, Her Vox Ultima and its volunteers expand every walk of life from homeless individuals to CEO's and Ghostcoin billionaires.

Social

Family Ties

Cestus had one daughter who lived an enriched life and passed of old age. Her lineage is known to still exist today though The Giver keeps their identities a secret even from the descendants.

Speech

The Giver speaks very plainly often preferring simple words and ideas in lieu of complex or complicated communication, mostly due to her lack of formal education in her youth. Her speech is often quoted as gentle and soothing, typically quiet and smooth. No records exist of raised tones, harsh language or vulgarities.
