Miwold - The City of Gardens

Before the Upheaval that reshaped the world of Kolgar, the Yuan-ti empire spanned almost it's entire length and breadth. No other race or kingdom could contest their will and power; they were the absolute rulers of the world. Now, almost 1000 years later, there are those who have even forgotten they ever even existed. The only vestige of their once great empire is the remains of their capital Miwold - The City of Gardens.   Once situated in a lush and beautiful jungle, Miwold now sits in an isolated valley of the Fellspire Mountains; an oasis of lush natural beauty surrounded by unforgiving rocky peaks. If not for their powerful priests, the city would have been swallowed during the upheaval. The high priests of the city used every ounce of magic they had to shield the city from destruction as the lush jungle around the city was replaced by towering peaks of stone, killing them all in the process.   Now, if a traveler is able to make the dangerous journey through the unforgiving mountains, they might come across an oasis. A valley filled with ancient tiered building and walls covered in all manner of vines, flowers, trees, and more. The city of Miwold is as wild and dangerous as it's Yuan-ti masters. No where else in the world have the wild jungle flora been integrated so heavily into a city. Many of the gardens, though beautiful, are deadly to outsiders. Bright flowers and shining waterfalls rest alongside carnivorous vines with deadly poisoned barbs. Towering in the middle of the city is the great temple pyramid. Rising 100 ft higher than any other structure in the city, each of it's layers is covered in terraces with some of the most beautiful gardens in Kolgar. Here the high priests direct their acolytes in the ways of their secret religion and maintain the lush growth of jungle flora on the temple.   Over the last 1000 yrs the Yuan-ti have been slowly recovering and growing in their hidden valley, nurturing their gardens. Slowly, with their coaxing, the gardens have begun to take root in the rocky peaks around them. Growing and expanding, seeking to cover the world again.

Geography

Miwold sits in a deep and inaccessible valley surrounded by tall rocky mountains. The valley is filled with lush gardens and natural springs, but the mountains surrounding it are mostly barren, steep, and rocky. Passage through the mountains is almost impossible overland.

Fauna & Flora

Miwold is a jungle oasis with wild, overgrown gardens. Many jungle animals were saved with the city and live there both as pets and as wild animals.

Natural Resources

The gardens of Miwold and the fauna that live there provide many resources such as herbs and poisons, spell components, hides, etc... The city is also situated in a mountain region which yields many different metals and jems, along with stone. The city is lacking in large quantities of marine based resources and lumber (they have some, but are careful about how much they cut down in order to maintain their limited number of trees). There is also essentially no farm land in the area and no trade.
