Session 0.5: Searching for Garlok Report

The players continued their search for their lost companion, Garlok. They followed his tracks through the sewers, eventually coming to a place where many sets of footprints seemed to converge, leading into a hole in the sewer wall, which served as the entrance to a dank, grimy cavern filled with mushrooms and rotten smells. There they discovered a manticore and two gray oozes, which upon noticing them, attacked. They fought bravely and won the fight handily, but afterwards they discovered the gooey, rotten corpse of Garlok in the center of the cavern, along with many of his personal belongings - including a bag of holding which the players kept. Before returning to the guild, they inspected the area around the site of Garlok's death, and discovered another secretive room with the dead bodies of three spellcasters on the cobblestone floor. Lining the walls of the room were cages of various sizes, and scattered about on a table were various notes pertaining to the import and husbandry of magical creatures - a criminal offence within city walls. Furthermore, they discovered that the manticore they had slain had a saddle on its back, with the name "Stinky" carved into the leather - apparently someone's pet.   With this grim information, the party returned to the guild hall to relay their findings to Guildmaster Mosona Onami and the rest of their guild companions. One guild member, a woman by the name of Melissa, was supremely affected by the news of Garlok's death, and it came to be known that she was in fact his fianceé. Mosona thanked the party for their efforts, and paid them for the completion of their mission. The next morning, he made a statement to the guild reflecting on the tragic news, and told them that there would be a vigil in honor of Garlok the following evening, and that they were all encouraged to attend. However, Mosona also stressed the important of continuing work in light of this tragic event - a statement which was unpopular with many guild members.
