Louna Root

The Louna root is a natural root found mainly throughout Kastatsz Tuszimos with psychoactive properties, which are made especially potent when the root brewed into a tea. The root itself is difficult to identify, nearly identical to a carrot before it is pulled from the ground. The main distinguishing feature between the two is the slightly thinner leaves on the Louna root, which also take on a more yellowish color when the root is ready to pick. Louna occurs mostly near world-trees such as the central tree of Kastatsz Tuszimos, or the world-tree nearby Sztontatsz-Kal, however it also can (strangely) be found deep underground, often near large quartz crystals.   Louna root is mainly used for its mind-altering capabilities. Although effects vary from person to person, most who ingest it report increased focus and clarity, as well as an increase in empathy. Some experience mild hallucinations (both visual and auditory), and even fewer have reported reaching a state of religious ecstasy. Louna root is legal to consume in most prefects, although the recently-incorporated Tenedzum have banned it, stating that it has negative effects on the long-term health and fertility of their warriors.   Among the rest of the empire, louna root is used semi-commonly in religious practices which require intense focus, such as meditative chants or long-lasting rituals. It is also used recreationally by many, although due to its rarity, it is far too expensive for commoners to use regularly. Therefore, it is mostly used on special occasions like weddings and eclipse celebrations.
