The Praetorian Guard

The elite company of honored warriors who serve as the bodyguard force for the Diarchs. Unlike the majority of military orders in the empire, the Praetorian Guard is an intermixed blend of the various castes that all serve the Diarchs equally.   This force pulls from the most honored and decorated members of the various Legionary Corps, the Imperial Marines, and the Clone Stock Soldiers. Veterans, prodigious youths at the beginning of their careers, and even academy cadets can be earmarked for Praetorian training while still in the academy. All are equally considered during the vetting process. This recruitment and equal vetting process serves to remind the prospects that all are equally valuable in the eyes of the Diarchs.   This mixing of the classes, a microcosm of the empire, also serves to remind the Diarachs of all the servants of the empire. The diverse cadre of bodyguards is further supplemented by the addition of robotic auxiliaries. The Android Praetorian models are intermixed in the ranks of the organic guards, use the same weapons, and wear the same armor. This is meant confuse any would-be attackers. Robotic towering behemoths brandishing massive cannons and melee weapons called Sentinels are the highly visible visual deterrent and main mechanized war horse of the Praetorian Guard. Sentry drones are small and nimble support units adding the guard in terms of firepower or soaking up damage.   This lack of uniform capability is seen as advantage, not a weakness. The power armor issued to each Guard greatly shrinks the gap in combat capacity between humans, super humans, and android. Guards of similar capability are groups into cadres, and those cadres into squads. Each squad is a fairly independent unit but has a highly specific role should an attack ever occur. Of course the enemy is not aware of this disparity in speed and strength. And won't know who can do what until an attack is already underway, ideally. Because other than the sentinels and drones, the Praetorian Guard are uniformly armed and armored. And trained gruelingly to use theses weapons and power armor to an expert degree.
