First meeting:Fighting the Demon Hound:
Tis true I did fight the hound...I had just started my shift on the tower and I heard screaming. I ran to the area where I heard the screams, to my horror, I came upon the demon ripping an old woman apart. I steadied myself and attacked the beast with my Halberd, to my surprise the blow was true and sank deep into it's side. The beast howled in pain and reared back, as it was thrashing about trying to get the point of my halberd out of it's side, it smashed into a lit brazier knocking it over and falling into the flames. I managed to score a second hit and between the fire nad my blade the beast fell. So you see I just got lucky with the fire, or it may have killed me as well. At first I thought that the beast was merely smoking from the fire, but I soon realized that it actually transformed into a black mist and flew over the wall. I had hoped that was the end of it, but it showed up again the next night, fully whole and not a scratch or burn on it and it continued it's murderous rampage. I say murderous because it just doesn't kill to feed, in fact it doesnt feed on the slain at all, it only wants to tear it's victims apart and leave the mangled corpses behind, It's sickening.
Seeking the Druids Help:
After visiting the standing stone with Sylas telling him of the battle with the beast, the Druid read runic carvings on the stones and researching the local history and legends he came to several conclusions about the Hound. The Hound is a remnant of an ancient chaos spirit once worshipped by the savage tribes of the Sword Mountains, the beast takes the form of an enormous demonic hound. Until six months ago the hound was confined within the tomb of the Ulfheonar, the last of the savage kings. What released it from it's prison, he did not know. But contrary to what the Jarl and his lackey are telling everyone, the Hound can be hurt and even killed. Sylas's research indicated that the beast must be first bound by a magical binding then slain by a killing blow from the Spear of Ulfheonar. Other weapons can be used to fight the beast but the killing blow must be struck by the spear. He points up the spear hanging above the bar, thats a replica of the very spear. Everyone knows about the the legend of Ulfheonar and his mighty spear, in these parts. He leans in close, but not everyone knows about the Serpent mound, he looks around and whispers, myself and Sylas believe it to be the burial tomb of Ulfheonar. I believe you may find out more about the spear there but it could be dangerous. I met with the Jarl and requested a contingent of men and myself be allowed to go and investigate the mound, but Vornak advised the Jarl against it and so, I was denied. This is my only lead on the spear. As far as the binding goes, it was beyond Sylas's abilities, he is away now speaking with others of his order, trying to seek help. The only other person that might possibly know something might be Ophelia..... but I would only recommend seeing her if it's our last resort....he leans in close and whispers, some say shes a witch.....and I think she may be touched in the head.... the strange thing, I know for a fact that her name is never put in the Lottery and the Hound has never attacked her house, not once.....just sayin....strange. My suggestion would be, start with the spear first, and maybe by the time you track it down, Sylas will be back with good news, and we wont even have to bother with Ophelia, yes I think that would be best for everyone.
