Steam Strategic Reserve

The Steam Strategic Reserve (SSR) was a collection of withdrawn steam locomotives that had been kept by the military to use in the case of a major global conflict.
The SSR first came to public attention when whistleblower, William Perkins, told the press that four goods locomotives of various classes had been taken away from Sandford Locomotive Works under military escort after a recent overhaul. Through the declassification of doccuments kept by the State Intelligence Service of Etorea, it was found that the first locomotives to be used SSR were three ROD Class III 0-6-0s built prior to the Second World War, these were kept by the ROD never becoming part of the SSR but instead collected some of the locomotives that would become part of the fleet.
Upon disbandment of the SSR, engines were discretely moved to old sidings and scrapyards with all identifiable markings being removed as to give the impression of them having been there since withdrawal.

As of 2024 only six locomotives are known through the declassification of ex - military doccuments. Three were preserved, with 563 amd 758 being used as parts donors for the restoration of other locomotives. 105's location remains unknown.
