SE&NSCR №s 52 - 63

South Etorea & North Sea Coast Railway №s 52 - 63 was a class of twelve 4-4-0 tender engines built to a standard Sharp, Stewart design for use on fast postal and fish trains aswell as express trains used on the SE&NSCR.   History:
In 1889, the SE&NSCR gained running rights over the South Western Railway as far as Leamullin and had recently formed the Eastern Counties & North Sea Railway along with the Eastern Counties Railway. These new lines necessitated the purchase of new locomotives to run the passenger and goods trains on them. For these trains, two new types of 4-4-0 tender engines were ordered for the faster trains and some 0-6-0s and 0-6-0Ts were purchased for local and goods trains.
